It would probably be a perfect vacuum if the optional paper bag filter stayed attached to the suction port inside the tank. It is NOT possible to hold the bag by the inlet tube. It just needs to be slipped onto the pipe and somehow stay in place. The bag that came with my 12 gallons. The unit was from 12(?) to 16 gallons. and was too big, which didn't help. It took less than 10 minutes to assemble the unit upon arrival. (All you need is a Phillips screwdriver to attach the four wheels.) When it comes to suction, this thing really is a beast. I used it on a large carpet and the nozzle got stuck sometimes! Being an asthmatic I am sure that dust, pollen etc will be removed from my carpets. Received a response within a day and a notification that a new replacement unit was shipped.
