Absolute junk of external components

I don't know if you can find that cheaper than the quality this thing has. The box didn't even look retail like it most likely wasn't, just a white sticker on a regular brown cardboard box with a barcode and product name on it. Upon opening it was clear that it had been used. It might be new but then again the quality is rubbish. The "manual" wasn't even cut straight, and it looks like it was printed on a regular sheet of paper that they cut in 1/4, as some of the other manuals are still…

This is a good sound card for what it has, you get a toslink in and out as well as other normal connections. I'm using this for Toslink login on a running Jack audio server. Gentoo Linux and it does the job pretty well even though I can only run one Linux login at a time. No problem, bought exclusively for the Toslink entry anyway! My Windows machine has a Toslink output, so I use this sound card exclusively to transfer audio from a Windows machine to a Linux Jack sound server without the…

Noisy computer parts

My computer is currently my main place for listening to music. I have a bunch of really good studio monitors and all my music files are lossless. I come from the hi-fi world and was a partner in a recording studio. The quality of the music is important to me. I bought this because my PC's internal audio was loud and I thought the external unit was isolated from the EM hell that is the inside of the PC. Plugged in with no problems and mostly working. But on its own it generated quite a bit of…

Used as "mixer " for games

My use case was a bit interesting. I'm a casual gamer and lately (due to the pandemic) I've been spending more time playing online games with my friends. CoD Warzone was my choice. As summer came my small apartment got very warm and my gaming laptop (Dell G7, FYI) felt and started to have heat issues which affected the overall performance of the game. Then I decided to play it on my PS4 but my friends use discord to communicate and you know there is no discord app for PS4. This is where our…

Decent external sound recording

In general, I think this is a worthy product. It has its own quirks but I think it's worth the money. Pros: - It's a small device that you can take almost anywhere. - It's a cheap way to get an audio recording of almost anything. - It has SPDIF inputs and outputs. - You can get 5.1 surround sound as output. - It comes with a decent piece of software called Xear Audio Center to set it up. You can adjust the decibel volume for each input/output and change the decibel level for each ear…

Four stars, it works.

update: two more devices worked very well. Check them in Windows using the setup button after selecting the driver. Then test online with Dolby Test on Youtube. I also got one in blue and it was loud in the Windows test. I used his case for the first to get a fully functional device. To do this I had to remove the bezel as the green connector was not holding the connector due to poor tolerances. These are tiny devices. It's all about the chipset. The drivers from the minidisk worked on my Win 7

Discounted external sound cards

I was able to use it plug and play with Windows 10, Android 4.4 and 5.1 without downloading additional drivers. The output gain is low, so I had to turn the speaker amplifier almost to maximum. According to Windows, it is defined as a CM106-compatible sound card. Android 7.1 (smartphone) seemed to recognize the device, but the output gain was so low I couldn't get an audible sound. Maybe I'll get it working with Android Software Booster. Haven't tested true 5.1 surround sound yet, but 2.0…
