Great drill but needs teeth.

So this is a great little auger if you have absolutely no problem with soft soil. However, if you have even the tiniest little rocks, clay, or debris in his way, he doesn't like wading through them. The tip of mine got stuck in the clay the entire time and the blade couldn't penetrate because of the 1.5 inch gap between the tip and the blade. Only need teeth on top! Overall great quality, great width and fits most drill bits. Improvement Tip: You need teeth to be able to smash through obstacles

3 foot holes in clay? No probs

I used this awesome bit with a cobalt bit to drill 36 inch deep holes for 12 foot 4x4 fence posts in West Virginia's impossible clay soil. Works like a charm and as expected with ONE easy caveat: it can hurt your hand if you don't hold the gun properly and it spins while you're holding it. I recommend supporting the gun with your foot as a drill. PROS: Good value, good construction, kink resistance, digs symmetrical holes even in hard clay. Ground DISADVANTAGES: The rotating action of the auger

Pros
  • PERFECT BULB PLANTER - Auger for tulips, irises, flower bulbs, flower beds and seedlings. Also great for digging up weeds by the roots. Quickly digs holes up to 12" deep and 4" wide with a hand drill.
Cons
  • Hardware

Great beat! Highly recommended.

After reading mixed reviews on here I decided to buy this drill and try it myself. I live in south Texas where the soil tends to be clay so digging can be difficult due to the drought. made from recycled wood. Keep in mind I did this a few days after a week of heavy rain so it made things a lot easier. After a brief try (after encountering a few rocks) I realized that this tool scrapes the dirt up, so it must be used to drill a bit and then pull out loose soil before proceeding and digs deeper.

Pros
  • DIGS CORDLESS DRILL - Save time and energy. Can be used with any electric or cordless drill that accepts a 3/8" drill bit. There is no better tool for digging holes in the garden.
Cons
  • Out of fashion
