Don't listen to negative reviews. That works fine. It's easy to use, durable, and places the drill right in the middle of where you want it. Just don't forget to pull the racquet out regularly and don't let it get too hot. I've made a number of orders for floating shelves and couldn't have done it without this tool. My customers loved it.

I really enjoyed using this dowel jig, but when I started drilling my first holes it became quite obvious that it wasn't staying centered on the panel. I checked the clamp and made sure everything was tight. No matter what I do, the guide block does not stay flush with the material. After drilling holes for 12 dowels (24 holes), the rear hold down block has almost 1/4" side play on the drive shafts (outer rails). I think this design could be improved. Joining wood with dowels requires precision, and this tool doesn't make it as easy as I was hoping. Its main feature, I think, is to center the dowel holes right in the middle of the two faces to be joined. I would say this is usually within 1/16 plus or minus. But there's also the problem of having holes on two surfaces aligned left and right, and this tool really doesn't do well. I can imagine a high end woodworking shop selling tools at much higher…
