Faster/good tire for the big ones

38cm is good for a Clyde like me who wants to use slicks for city driving without ruining his rims. These tires are very fast, but if the grooves weren't so deep, they could be even faster. I haven't had an apartment for 2 months or so they were in use.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Good but not great

Vittoria Randonneur II trekking tires

I've been using Vittoria Randonneur II trekking tires for about 4 years. These are the best tires I have used for all road conditions including soft sand. What I love most is that since I've been running Vittoria Randonneur II trekking tires I haven't had a flat tire. The other tires I've used have lost air while driving on rough roads with sidewall cracks. I give these tires two thumbs up.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Not the best

Love them in the sports category

I switched to these from a 20 year old high blood pressure Contis. The ride is incredibly smooth compared to the high pressure tires. They're not very popular with speed lovers as they seem to have quite a high rolling resistance, but I'm really happy. Not a single flat for more than 3,000 miles, but I'm very careful. I'm an amateur racer, 60-100 miles a week on paved roads. I'm also in my 70's and have given up speed. I liked Contis when I was younger, not so much now. BY THE WAY. I had toโ€ฆ

Very stiff on the bike

I bought these for my 2008 Cannondale Carbon Synapse 105 to replace the 23mm slicks it had. Those tires made this bike a pseudo-gravel bike. I've put about 500 miles on these tires so far, about 200 miles on pavement and 300 miles on gravel and single lane roads. (I even drove in winter and there was a thin layer of snow on the track in places). The grip on this bike is incredible at the moment. Now I can descend a steep climb in one lane to avoid a long busy road, which is great. I runโ€ฆ
