Installed this valance CAI on my 2001 Chevy Silverado Z71 today in about an hour. Don't rush and follow the instructions. After installing it I did a 3 hour round trip on the freeway and let me tell you this thing sounds amazing and works pretty well. Significant throttle response is noticed and so is speed. There were no problems with the installation, everything stood up and works perfectly. Would recommend to anyone who wants to open their airways so your truck can breathe.

Here's a chrome air intake cover, I had a thin plastic cover with a valance decal that was already peeling off. The quality was terrible. Trying to get a throttle body gasket on top and the air intake was next to impossible had to use a blow dryer and heat it up along with some silicone spray lube. The plenum was ruined too so I returned it for a refund and opted for the S&B which has a see through lid. S&B was much easier to install.

3 stars only because of the description. In the photo you can see an aluminum cover. When I received the order, the lid was black. I called the manufacturer and was told that the aluminum cap manufacturer can no longer supply them and the caps are now just black. The CAI itself is a perfect fit and seems to give my truck a little more power with a 2mpg increase. The engine is quiet on startup and with a light touch of the accelerator, but you can hear the difference if you stand on it.

Bought for my 2002 Avalanche 5.2 Vortec. Fits like a glove. I saw where the holes at the bottom of the air intake didn't really line up. Just match as many holes as you can and mark the rest for finishing. 2 holes in my airbox needed to be filed. I literally filed the holes and installed the airbox in 5 minutes. I installed this on my 2001 Silverado 5.3L along with a flounce spacer for the throttle body. Installation was a nightmare. There are these 2 foam pads that compress the airbox wall and attach to the MAF sensor. It would be better if they were something more durable, like rubber. You will receive 3 small hex screws that you need to align with the mass airflow sensor, 2 foam pads, airbox and filter adapter. Also, you can't see when you're refueling them.
