Installing this product was not difficult for me at all. Do take into account that the water flow will be much slower than normal (well that's an idea), you'll be getting less water per minute, I can't tell if it's the exact 0.5 gallons the description says are, but there is a huge difference to the old one we had before (it was 2.2 gpm)

They are indispensable if your sink does not have an overflow hole. Excess water can cause the bowl to overflow onto the floor. The reducer still provides enough water to brush your teeth or wash your hands, but the amount of water that comes out of the faucet goes straight down the drain with no back-up in the sink. Fits perfectly, works great in an old faucet.

For comparison, 0.5 gallons per hour is pretty low. This is nowhere near what you would find on standard faucets, but we are going through a severe drought and wanted to do our part. It has a very small flow, but the aerator distributes it through less powerful streams (those little holes at the edge of the picture). This way you get a good spray and also save water. Works well in bathrooms where you only wash your hands and brush your teeth.
