WAYNE RPP50 SEWAGE PUMP RUNS EXACTLY 5 YEARS

Well I just had to replace my sewage pump after exactly 5 years of operation in a single family pump situation. The pump pumped all the sewage of a family of 4. I had a spare pump in stock so failure could have resulted in minor injury. Now I will order a new one, hopefully in another 5 years or more. The pump has worked flawlessly throughout its lifetime. The first one I bought was $132 in September 2014. I bought the second one in December 2016 for $111. The RPP50 Wayne pump is now $166.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

There doesn't seem to be any quality control

This is my second experience with this pump. For some reason the first one wouldn't switch off and was already smoking a bit when I got to it. Revain replaced it without question. I opened up the replacement cable to find that the cable had been cut in two which should have happened during production as it was brand new in the box. Apparently there is no quality control. Attached is a photo of how I received it. I needed it immediately so I wired them together so they wouldn't fail any longer…

Not the Wayne pump your dad used and that's bad news

The first one failed 2 days after installation. I then waited for a replacement (remember this is a waste water pump so it doesn't use water while waiting). The second pump failed 7 days after installation. I went to the local big store, bought a cheap one to "get" it until I decided what to do with the Wayne pump (replace again or ask for money back). The cheap pump still works after 8 months. Got my money back and bought another cheap one to keep in store as a backup. However, two cheap pumps

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Not the best

I first used it a few months after purchasing it. It worked for about 30 minutes and then shut down. I got it out of the water using the included lifting ring and found that the reason it failed was that the head was full of water and the cable was no longer securely in the socket and the gasket was allowing water to enter the case. I took it apart and painted it and it seems to be working fine now, but I haven't left it in the water long enough to know if it's actually waterproof! I am…

Pros
  • High test results for hold and durability
Cons
  • Good but not great

This is a good working pump and transfers solids as advertised. The float switch needs a lot of depth to turn on reliably, and it turns off when the motor case is mostly open and uncooled. This is important because without submersion the motor will overheat and the thermal fuse will shut it down until it cools down. This means that this pump must be installed in such a small pit that it will not overheat as long as it is only partially submerged in water. This should not pose a problem when…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • not reliable

Great sewer pump! in Sewage Pumps

I bought this item to put in the sewage basin in my basement. After installation it works great! I have an unfinished basement that I will finish soon. It already has a bathroom with a shower, and the boiler room also opens into the sewage system. I wanted to make sure this pool was being serviced by a working sewage pump before I put in a bathroom or basement remodel so I can run into overflow issues or whatever. I can't comment on the durability of the product as I've only had it. installed…

Works great, very quiet and strong enough

Had to replace a 22 year old totally dead pump [Barnes] that only serves a basement bathroom; The check valve has probably not worked for the last 10 years. Obviously it was some dirty work (probably why it's usually recommended to replace it every 10 years or so - BEFORE it dies entirely). Once the old pump and parts have been removed, reinstalling this Wayne pump is very easy. Installed with a Quietsewage "Campbell Mfg Llc 2" check valve, which by the way is a very good device, much better…

Replacing my pond waterfall pump. Failed in just under 2 years

Had to replace the waterfall pump in my 30ft pond. A four year old Barnes (Crane) SE-411 sewage pump drew over 20 amps on start up and tripped the 20 amp GFIC indicating that the bearings were probably worn and allowing so much play that the rotor, rubbing on the stator, caused a lot of noise in the last 4 months. I have had a pond for over 15 years and have had to buy a new Barnes SE-411 about every 2-3 years. My duty cycle on the pump is 1 hour a day, 365 days a year. After searching the…
