Works well but not as advertised.

The description says it pumps "up to 3000 gallons per hour". Of course I didn't think it would be accurate, but the actual performance of this pump is pretty pathetic. I bought it to lower the water level in my underground pool after heavy rains. I set the pump to the top step which takes the pump about 8 inches into the water and first ran it through a 50 foot hose to the drain. The pump delivered 180 gallons per hour. The drain is only 20 feet away so I cut off the garden hose to see ifโ€ฆ

It was good until it was gone.

I bought it in June '17 and have used it a total of 3 times since then. I use this to pump water through the wort chiller, so I fill the sink with ice water, pump that water through the wort chiller, and recycle that water so I don't throw gallons down the drain. So, like I said the first few times, no problem. The last time I used it (4th) the pump just had no momentum and the water wasn't going anywhere. I'm really good with my tools/gadgets and this is a common use for this gear. For $70โ€ฆ

6 years of daily use

6 years of daily use. only 1 year warranty. The customer got his money's worth. It works very well without oil. tried her VIP50, didn't get it. lasted 6 months. They've only used it once for a real garbage pump and left it on for a while, but it should have lasted longer anyway. but this one, the RUP160, is worth its weight in gold and is used daily, so it never wore out. I wish there was more pressure but it's still nice. the spout was divided by T so there was always some return flow to theโ€ฆ

Too powerful for my purpose

I am only giving this pump two stars because it is a really great pump but I contacted the company before purchasing this pump and asked about a specific use. I wanted to use this pump to pump water out of my 275 gallon rainwater barrel. I wrote to the company asking about the performance of this pump and if it would be too powerful to water my plants with a 20 foot hose. The guy who emailed me assured me that wouldn't happen, but I'm telling you now that he's absolutely 100% wrong. The waterโ€ฆ

Worked 1 year and 2 weeks, tech support is not responding. (Update: Solved)

I first bought this pump in 2012 and it lasted until last year (2016). Because it has been working so well for 4 years, I bought the exact same pump on May 17, 2016. I only use it to drain my fish pond in the spring (and summer) and drain the pool cover in the spring. I used it on a fish pond in March 2017 and it worked great but I was a bit late opening the pool and the pump stopped working. It starts, but a ground fault appears. I've tried this on 3 different ground faults throughout theโ€ฆ

Cleans water from pool cover

I bought this multi-purpose water pump to replace my previous (and more expensive) Craftsman pump which broke down after 2 years of infrequent use. The Wayne pump shown here looks good after a week of careful use. The device quickly cleans a large inground pool (30 x 15 x 8 feet) with small attachments. I am satisfied with the device as it is not designed exclusively for pool use. Important aspects: - The water intake takes place through a grid at the bottom of the device. - The device has noโ€ฆ

Some Information Required Best in Power Water Pumps

Some Information Required Seeing this type of inconsistency in reviews makes me wonder why some people get such poor results. They are said to do something very wrong for such a product not to work properly. However, my experience with the Wayne RUP160 1/6 HP Oil Free Submersible Water Pump was not. 3000 GPH makes me appreciate both positive and negative feedback. First of all according to the manufacturer: 1. At least ยฝ inch of water is required to prime and run the pump. The pump should notโ€ฆ
