Good product, terrible dispenser

My 3 star rating is based on the fish oil dispenser. The oil itself worked pretty quickly. My cat's fur is much softer and looks healthier. The bottle cap leaks horribly. On dispensing, oil collects in the opening of the cap where the pinch tube is lowered as the bottle is capped. If not wiped off before capping, it will push the oil from the neck down the sides of the bottle. I wipe off more oil than I use and end up wasting more product than I actually use on a daily basis.

  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Useless features

But the product works.

I bought this for my cat to help with dry skin. It helped with her scaly, itchy skin, but both bottles I ordered had to be thrown out before I could empty the bottle. I kept it in a cool, dark and dry place, but over time I noticed that both bottles were starting to smell rancid. At this point my cat wasn't touching things and I can't say I blame her as much as it smelled. The hinged lid also seems to be leaking. Instead, I would recommend buying Welactin gelcaps. You can pierce the capsule to…

The dosing system is a disaster, but it can be adjusted.

I bought it second hand and couldn't get the capsules. (Where did they go?) That stupid "syringe in a tiny cup" system really drips no matter how careful you are. And the dosing cup cannot be cleaned. But if you can find a real pharmacy, they can help you by selling you a dosing cap and an oral syringe. They are commonly used to deliver liquid medicines to children. I poured it into a bottle and drew it up to 1.25ml with an oral syringe. There are dispenser caps that are completely wedged into…

Slippery and aromatic.

I don't eat cat fish oil so I base my taste rating on smell and cat reactions. Fish oil smells like fish glands and doesn't turn me on. The cat eats it along with its wet food using an elaborate ritual and hand-feeding. The dog can't get enough of this stuff and would rate it an 8 if it could. My taste rating of 1, cat rating of 3, and dog rating of 5 stars brings us to 3 stars. Thickness is also a strange judging criterion. This is oil. Thicker than baby oil, thinner than motor oil. 4 stars…

THIS PRODUCT REALLY WORKS!

My poor cat had an oily coat, dandruff and bald patches from over grooming. After a month on this wet food she now has a shiny coat, no dandruff, no greasy coat or bald spots. She also doesn't itch like she used to. I was worried she wouldn't eat the food because it smelled like fish oil, so I covered the food with some good quality Fortiflora powder, a probiotic from Purina (no cat can resist its taste. They'll eat anything you put it on !) and shredded dehydrated chicken. She ate it with no…

Amazing product! best of cats

I love Velaktin and what it has done for my cats health. I first tried it on the recommendation of my vet. The instructions mention adding a small amount (including a scoop) to the cat's food daily (see dosages for cat size). Despite the "fishy" taste, my cats didn't like his food, so I just squirt one dose in their mouth each day. In just one month all my cats showed amazing results. My older cat was more active while my 2 year old seemed healthy. The most noticeable result with all of my cats

If I could give that 50 stars I would!

My vet recommended this product to me two years ago. I have a seventeen year old cat with multiple health issues. Asthma, heart, kidneys, arthritis. She takes medication for all of this every day. This was followed by nighttime crying, which is a sign of feline dementia. I spent most nights with her on the floor as she didn't like climbing up her cat ladder to my bed anymore. This cat is my baby and I will never scare her. The vet suggested CBD oil which did nothing, feline valium which didn't…
