📏 Efficient and Durable: Westcott Stainless Steel Office Ruler for Precise Measurements Review

Cannot give less than 5 stars. This is a regular metal ruler with a cork base. Works as it should. If anyone needed it I would say this one is very similar to what you can find in a regular store.

I always buy the Westcott range. Made in the USA, they were wider, heavier and had a thicker cork. It's that cheap crap you can find half price at Harbor Freight. However, I don't want cheap crap from Harbor Freight or anyone else.

The ruler itself was fine with a small scratch on the metal side but the UPC sticker stuck on the cork side did not come off cleanly. In fact, he actually pulled the cork out of the ruler. I don't know if the decal is from Revain, Acme (the seller) or the manufacturer, but I wouldn't advise buying it.

This is the second series of stainless steel from Wescott and like the first series (I ordered them at the same time) it came with a sticker/tag on the cork backing. Pooh! It took a while but I peeled off the label piece by piece with minimal scratches on the cork. This is a great product and I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the label on the cork (and now with light scratches on the cork).

After struggling with poor quality plastic and straight edges for the past few years, I finally decided it was time for an upgrade and I'm so glad I did! The quality and weight of this line are impressive. for a great price. I've used it almost every day and it shows no signs of wear - the cork backing still feels brand new even after being accidentally soaked in water a few times.

This model only gets 3 stars because of the stupid product barcode sticker. At first glance the ruler is fine, but I ended up having to either squeeze or erase the cork to remove the sticker. I suspect they didn't put a sticker on the stainless steel side as the numbers and ticks are just painted on and will likely rub off, especially if some sort of solvent is used to remove the d*#m sticker.

I love this series. I have one that is over 30 years old but I'm tired of chasing it. So I have a few more. In fact, this is the same line with some improvements. The markings are thinner. They also lengthened the ruler by a quarter of an inch so the 0 and 12 marks don't line up with the end of the ruler. Now that I've finally removed the sticker, this is a great ruler. So I'm deducting a star. They put a sticker on the cork that doesn't tear off completely and is very difficult to tear off…

For a metal ruler under $5 this is a good buy. However, it is a bit flimsy and may not stay straight if you are not careful with it. As other reviewers have noted, there is a barcode sticker at the bottom that needs to be removed. Removing it keeps the ruler in place while you use it. The problem is, if you don't remove the sticker slowly (I mean very, very slowly) it will leave a sticky residue or maybe even rip the cork backing off.
