Description of Enhanced Standard Capacity Replacement Whirlpool WHA2FF5 Filter

Flow And Capture Technology (FACT) filters provide better flow, higher levels of filtration and longer life than most standard whole house water filters. Reduces sediment, chlorine taste and odor, sand, silt and rust. Premium carbon filtration provides better tasting water throughout your home. Less than 1 micron filter – the lower the micron rating the more particles or contaminants removed by a whole house filter. Each cartridge has a 6 month filter life meaning you only need to replace your filter twice a year.

Good filter for the whole house, disappointed with the service life.

These screws sit directly in the bracket and catch debris. I just wish they had a little more filtering power to fight bacteria. Good water drainage. I probably won't buy again. The update, after going through two such filters, took only 3 weeks each. Very disappointed with their short lifespan as they clog and stop supplying water after less than 2 weeks.

These 1 micron filters are a bad choice if you have well water

I installed one of these filters throughout our home, after 10 days it was clogged with particles and there was less water inside the taps to a small stream. The filter catches particles as small as 1 micron, and when you're on well water, they quickly clog. Best application for whole house filters on city water. I installed a second one which was also clogged after 10 days. The product works TOO WELL with well water.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • I won't say anything

NOTE: I ordered four packs of these premium carbon filters. I received only one pack of premium filters (pleated) and three packs of cheaper regular activated carbon filters which are not suitable for my application. My well water has tiny <5 micron rust particles that only premium filters remove completely, so the difference in performance is huge. Instead I will try to order the ecopure brand to see if my order will be filled without these ineffective substitutes.

Flow rate is much better than other charcoal filters

I've compared it to other whole house charcoal filters of the same size. This filter has a significantly larger surface due to the corrugated surface. The resulting flow rate is about 2x higher than the other two types I tried (GE and Pentek) which have smaller standard barrel shaped filter media. I determined the speed by measuring the time it takes to fill a 2 gallon container with each type installed on the same faucet. Carbon odor reduction was good for all types and negated the sulfurous…

Reasonable price, fast delivery

Installed a water softener 4 years ago, put 2 filters in front of the softener for the whole house. The former is a 5 micron baseball filter while the latter uses sub 1 micron filters. Lowes recently discontinued the Whirlpool line and their AO Smith carbon filters are 5 microns. I love spa filters, they have never caused any water flow issues so I plan to stick with them. And sub-1 micron filters can filter out some bacteria, so I like the added "just in case" protection, although my water…

Check the specs of your replacement water filter

The description says it fits our water filter. However, after installation, we noticed low water pressure in the house. We called the plumber and he informed us that the filter was slightly larger than our filter. After we removed, our water pressure returned to normal. If it really worked then it was very easy to install. Just put it in the filter. The only tools needed where earlier we opened the filter. It worked, the price was great. That was one of the reasons we bought it. But this could…

Go to Lowes or Home Depot or whatever these must be fakes

Have used this exact filter from Lowes with great results - Amazon can be a dollar cheaper for two packs and they're junk overall . Can't return because I ordered before my old ones ran out and then bought 4 off Amazon. By the time I started using them the return window had closed and I would have returned them. It's fake, or less likely a bad filter. The packaging looks the same, the filters look the same I think, but they suck - DO NOT BUY. The first expanded and started to collapse after a…

ONLY 3 MONTHS

This filter only lasts 3 months even though I live alone and use less water than my family. I still give it 5 stars because at $13.62 for 2, each filter is only $6.81. A Class III filter might say "only 5 microns" but it removes 25% of the chlorine and my skin is terribly itchy and flaky. Class II filters remove down to 1 - <5 microns, 50% chlorine and probably enough for me but I couldn't find it. Class III filter, removes all but particles < 1 micron, 75% chlorine, that's this filter…
