Disgustingly bad quality control. 2 out of 3 knives are defective.

Bought two 6" and one 8". Each of them had very poorly finished cutting edges (with indentations near the handle) rendering the knives unusable. The third knife was fine and has become my favorite in the kitchen. Not worth playing with quality control and returns hassle.

Pros
  • Good stuff
Cons
  • Hard to say

Great value for money great knife

This is one of the most common kitchen knives you will have, so buying the right version of the 8 inch chef's knife is very important. It's not as good as more established branded knives in the $60+ range. But this knife is made from high quality forged steel, arrived and stays very sharp with minimal effort. This knife is a great addition to our kitchen and I expect it will last for many years.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Long delivery time

This knife feels better than expected

This knife feels better than expected. I'm not exactly sure what the handle is made of, but it looks like wood and feels good, I don't know how to describe it. As for the knife itself, the steel keeps sharpening and performance decent. While not as sharp and clean as some of our other "high end" knives, it works well as a mallet and feels good in the hand.

Pros
  • Special offer
Cons
  • Minor issues

Good balance, heavy and sharp

Great knife. It has a heavy, .083" thick 10" blade with a slight camber for excellent control. Even with a heavy blade, He still balances on guard. The handle is comfortable and beautifully finished. The overall finish, while not quite the same as a $169 knife, is impressive for a $20 knife. The blade is very sharp. I bought it primarily to cut large watermelons that are too big for an 8 inch knife. The heavy, stiff and sharp blade made it unexpectedly easy.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Annoying

Great kitchen knife.

A good value for money knife. Although made in China, it is a forged knife made from German steel. At 199 grams, it offers both grip and balance. Not sharp enough upon receipt, but after 3 stages of wet rocks and a final flash with a leather bolt, it was operational. Definitely a good buy for the price and it offers better balance compared to stamped knives. The handle looks good, like ebony with 3 large rivets covering the entire shaft. The steel itself is matte, which I like better than…

Pros
  • It has something
Cons
  • It has flaws

Good quality, good price. Got this for my mom who has small hands but ended up spending some time with it. Personally, I'm a bit short for what I'm used to, but I won't deduct stars for that as it's a preference. Overall it's well built, full stock, decent steel (holds up well, doesn't rust too easily, but beware - it's carbon steel so towel dry after use!) and is a good weight. I had to complain a bit, the blade could go a little further, the guard is a bit thick. It's well built, but…

Pros
  • Not only usable for the intended purpose
Cons
  • Too blunt

Simplified Functional Beauty

After much deliberation and market research, as I didn't want to spend a fortune on a kitchen knife, I bought this great knife. Three factors always define a well built product. The shape is beautiful. The handle is made of durable plastic. The product is on the heavier side. While I find the weight extremely manageable and beneficial, my wife struggles with it and says it's uncomfortable.2. Feature Came a little boring. I like that my knife is very sharp. Luckily I had a sharpener on hand and…

Pros
  • Robust construction
Cons
  • No Automatic

I am very happy with this knife

Not from Revain but from a large online auction but exactly the same product. Wow I couldn't be happier with this knife. As a working chef who also cooks at home, I wanted a smaller chef's knife that I could pair with the 8" and 10" knives I use every day. To be honest, I was motivated to do this when I saw how famous TV chefs like Jacques Pepin often used smaller knives than many of us use most of the time. Wüsthoff, Calphalon, various professional/commercial brands etc and this Winco is as…

Beefy Beater!: Cutlery & knife accessories

I bought this chef's knife as a beater and a change from my VG-10 Gyuto. In short, he more than got the job done, and many times I've reached for that knife and not my ghyuto, damn it!
