🚚 Winunite 2015-2021 F150 Tailgate Assist Shock: Effortless Truck Lift & Easy Down! Review

Great addition to my 2019 Ford F-150 XLT. It keeps the tailgate from hitting my petite 4ft 10in wife, and the tailgate is pretty heavy for that height. It's a well thought out piece that keeps that heavy liftgate under control. Definitely recommend this to anyone who owns this vehicle. Install it in literally 5 minutes and there are easy to read instructions with pictures for those not mechanically inclined.

I found the damper to be easy to install. It appears to be a bit short due to the usual tailgate cable bracket having some slack. However, if you stand on it, it expands. I don't know if this affects shock resistance or not. Also, the shock works great on the DOWN path and slows things down quite a bit. However, there is little resistance when lifting the tailgate. Not sure if this is normal. For the price I can live with that.

Good price, good design. Well screwed. A little more guidance on attaching the gas spring bushings to the mounting balls in a preferred manner would be appreciated. The only real problem was that the gas spring would get stuck when closing the tailgate. The only way to open the tailgate far enough to pull out the gas spring seat is to pull harder and break one of the attachment balls. Really good product will come in handy The F150's tailgate isn't that heavy but it's always nice to just open the tailgate and to let it fall down without popping until it opens fully, fills well and looks good. It goes down pretty quickly, better than my dad's GMC Sierra (from another company). If you have a truck this mod is a must have. There were no written instructions in the box. However, if you're mechanically inclined, this shouldn't be a problem. I realized the vial of red liquid was Loctite, which the description didn't say. Not sure where this should be used. My Ford's original design did not use Loctite anywhere. My friend ordered one of these and it worked very well so I ordered one. Was impressed with everything that came with it including the large T50 torx wrench, socket wrench and all the necessary parts. Comes with pink Loctite but instructions don't say where to use it. There is also a washing machine, which is not mentioned anywhere. Cons: I couldn't lengthen the shock for installation.
