🔍 WIX Filters - 33040 Fuel (In-Line) Filter, Complete (Pack of 1) Review

Ordered this for my carbureted Jeep Wrangler. It works as advertised. The steam nipple is smaller, but I used two clamps for the fuel return line.

Filter is ok, it would be nice if they specified the size of the fuel line. The main line is 5/16 and the return line is 1/4".

My Trooper was rebuilt to a carburetor (EFI removed) and it worked great fixing the vapor barrier. Place it as close to the carburetor as possible and set the return port to the 12 o'clock position.

Great fuel filter for the price. I bought this fuel filter to fix a vapor lock issue I had on my son's F100. That helped. Put the relocated nipple back into the fuel tank and we have no more vapor lock problems. I have never regretted buying this fuel filter.

Using this as a vapor barrier as a return line will not be effective unless you make serious modifications to it. The return line opening is too large and simply pumps all the fuel back into the tank and overloads the carburetor. It doesn't build up enough back pressure. I've heard that some mechanics modified it to make the port smaller, but it was just more efficient to get a new return port fuel pump that worked properly rather than having to tweak the line to make it work.

So if you run that filter you can feel that the fuel is colder and that most of the air in the line is from the vapor lock etc. originates. Wix's tank told me there is NO Orpheus on this model, so I add a back pressure choke valve to keep the carb happy. The 1/4 return to the tank should be at the highest point of 12 o'clock as the air/vapor rises. I would add a clear line so you can see what's going on.
