Works as advertised - door closer

This is a basic door closer but will work well with a standard storm door. Elderly people may have difficulty opening the door due to the resistance. The degree of closure is easily adjustable.

Pros
  • Several competitors
Cons
  • Minor issues

Easy to install and close the storm door. Good buy

Installs in 10 minutes. Works like a charm and now the storm door closes by itself. great for the price. Update: It's been on the door for a few months now and it's still working and closing the door. Great price for a lost durable door closer

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Good but not great

Doesn't close softly

The pneumatic aspect of my screen door was failing so I bought this to replace. While it was very easy to replace, the new one slams the door the last 2-3 inches before closing, resulting in a pretty loud bang. So now I have to stand there and wait for it to close so I can manually mitigate the final close.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Obsolete model

Depressurize and Slam

This is a replacement for the exact same product that has been used for 22 years. Minor adjustments have been made to the brackets to prevent sticking or pressing onto the product. Once installed, the pressure is released within approximately six inches of the closing door. I tried the screen and glass door settings for the current screen door but it still slams. I was at my parents house last week and noticed a Wright Products door closer on their screen door and the action closed smoothly…

Easy installation - highly recommended!

I am a mother, a teacher with 2 small children and am now at home for the summer. Our heavy tanning bed door just randomly opened when not locked and I worried my little one or even our house cat would go outside. It was so easy to install - I did it myself in about 10 minutes (it would have taken less time if my kids had been in another room!). Now our door closes very quickly (I set it to close very quickly to make sure the door closes completely) and it won't swing open. This summer it was a

Pops after adjusting to pop

This closer was very easy to install with mostly* easy to follow instructions. It snapped about the last few inches, so I followed the prompts to move the pin. It ran fine about 6 times at the speed I set it to and there was no pop, and then I opened it to 90° and heard a smack. After that, it slams on the last inch every time it closes. I have uploaded a video where you can see and hear it. The metal bar that goes into the closer is covered in gray grease, so if you have it in the middle of…

Works well and closes quietly

Bought to replace another door closer I bought a few years ago. This works great once you set it up properly. It took me a while to install and play around with the settings, but now it closes properly. At first it made a knocking noise even at the slowest setting of the screw, but I read on another site about moving the bracket closer to the door jamb and that fixed the problem. I no longer hear the door close as it stops a few inches from fully closing and slowly pulls on it the last few…

Easy to install and does the job

I have teenagers who forget to close the screen door. This inexpensive remedy has given me my sanity back! Before installing it, I made sure to read the instructions and assembled it without installing it so I have an idea of how I want to install it (height etc.). I also pre-drilled the holes to make sure I didn't mess up the screws in the kit. The installation took a total of 15 minutes. The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars from me is that the door either slams or won't close. I tried…

Terrible product good for hardware

This closer was installed on my storm door. From the beginning it was not possible to close the door securely. On one particularly windy day, the wind caught the unlocked storm door and twisted it so severely that the rod holding the piston and door in place bent and the screws ripped out of the door jamb. The wind then changed direction and slammed the slamming storm door, leaving a large dent in the metal front door. With several options available, I ordered another "heavy duty" door closer…
