It really is incredible for the price. As other reviewers have pointed out, the detail is incredible. My husband bought them for me because he couldn't get me a set while traveling in Russia. I figured for sure based on the price they would suck. Not so. Amazing value.

I gave it four stars because it's still a pretty good deal compared to other 10 piece nesting dolls. Obviously the biggest doll has the best color. Doll number three has its painting quality reduced. On doll number six, the painting quality is significantly reduced. Again. For the price I was expecting a few compromises.

I only received 9(!) out of 10 nesting dolls and was disappointed with their appearance. Their faces look very different from the photo. The smaller they get, the uglier they look. Also, they don't have what is usually found in lacquer dolls. Bottom line: if you want high quality, make sure they are made in Russia.

The price made me think they would not be good quality but I was pleasantly surprised. I bought these for my 5 year old who is always asking to play with my collection. Now I would like to get one! Some open a bit rough, but even some of my expensive sets have this problem! They are beautiful and already more than worth the price I paid.

Everything is fine. Firstly NOT suitable for 12 months. Some of the smallest dolls pose a choking hazard, so the product is not suitable for young children unless you remove some parts from the set. I also expected a glossy surface for the price. The paint is NOT coated so you can feel the texture and it doesn't appear to take moisture well (e.g. can't be wiped off with a washcloth without damaging the paint). I bought these because my local granddaughter has always loved my matryoshka dolls and I wanted one for my distant granddaughter 2 years old but the very small ones want to put aside those that may pose a choking hazard. Ordered for my daughter! We bought her a set from Central Park in New York a few years ago and unfortunately our dog chewed on it so I've been trying to find something similar! General! MARVELOUS!
