First time I use. Maximum safety

Use this helmet for the first time on a small project today. My first regular helmet accidentally flashed in my eyes. This auto-darkening helmet is great. I am very happy with my purchase. Works great and the true color feature helps me because my eyes aren't the best. Would recommend this to anyone.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Very expensive

Read if DC TIG welding

I bought two of these hoods, full color and big screen, it's great, it's very light. HOWEVER I can't get the auto dimming to work with DC TIG, it works fine with AC TIG but when I switch to DC I flicker a few times before I even start adding filler wire. I spent an hour last night getting them both to auto dim based on some suggestions here, changing batteries etc and neither of them work on DC for me. Last night I went to bed with a headache and teary eyes. I will send them back to Amazon

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Auto dimming is too sensitive.

I bought this helmet because of the cheap price. I was welding a pipe fence around our property and needed a different helmet. I'm not too picky about wearing comfort, after all it's a welding helmet. If I welded more often it would be a problem as it's not the most comfortable. My reason for the rating is that this helmet is very sensitive which was very annoying when trying to weld outside on a sunny day. The glass would automatically darken and turn off before I even started welding. I think

Don't waste your time

While other reviews may suggest otherwise, I found this lens hood (LYG-L500A Bright Black) to be malfunctioning to begin with. After charging the battery for 1 hour, it works intermittently, using the sun for verification. If it's shaded, it stays dark. It didn't work in direct sunlight. Don't lose your eyes on that. The "User's Guide" is written in Chinese. There is no mention at all of the battery, which needs to be charged with a solar charger. Lithium-ion batteries don't last long when…

  • Easy-to-read control panel

Fast auto-darkening with good field of vision

The L500A welding mask is great. There are so many features in this affordable welding helmet. UV/IR protection up to 16#. 2 separate auto darkening sensors have a fast response time of only 3/10000 seconds. Inside are controls for adjusting UV/IR sensitivity and setting 0.10. Delay time 0.8s. All this is powered by a lithium battery and a solar panel. It also comes with interchangeable lenses. Like many others, no. All in all this is a very functional and comfortable welding helmet that offers

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Available in white only

Good helmet for welding helmets

My previous helmet was an optrel crystal 2.0. Which was absolutely perfect for me. If you're not familiar with this, give it a try. It got wet so I bought this one. I have previously had a Lincoln 3350. As unfair as this comparison is, this is how I feel about this helmet compared to the $430 Optrel Crystal 2.0. First, it doesn't have all the bells and whistles. There is also no grinding function. Sensitivity, latency and hue are everything, and so far everything has been flawless. The true…
