The filter failed after a week

The filter only lasted a week and then the water started to smell very, very bad and became so acidic it was undrinkable. We also bought a 23 cup dispenser at the same time and that broke at the same time too! In both cases, the water took on a sour smell and taste AFTER being poured through both filter systems. The small dipsticks that came with these containers showed that the filters were working, but as the water passed through the filter, the filter itself contaminated the water…

Tasty water! for water filter jug

The TDS of tap water in my area is about 300 ppm. I believe in municipal water treatment and have little doubt that my tap water is safe, but I just don't like it. Brita/Pur filtered water was fine until something changed (maybe my taste buds?) a few years ago when it no longer tasted good. I have a reverse osmosis filter at home (which I _love_) but wanted something for the office so decided to give it a try. To me it tastes as good as reverse osmosis water. The filter lasted longer than I…

Can't lift the top cover

This version of the zero water filter works like this: If you try to lift the top cover by holding the top center groove, you can't physically do lift it - it's so tight it won't let you in. To actually remove the top cover you have to put your finger in the hole where the water comes out, lift it and only then you can remove the top cover. it can be annoying. So I had to use plumber's putty to make an extra handle on the lid, but even then you can't just gently lift the lid because you end up…

  • Very good value for money

Tastes amazing, some obvious design/capacity flaws

Water tastes absolutely amazing. I have never had such a taste of water from a jug with a Brita filter. Amazing taste. I have two problems with this jug: 1. It's difficult to get the lid off the jug without putting your finger where you can grab the "lid" right where it's pouring. So if you have something uncomfortable on your hands, you have just soiled the jug's overflow. There is a "protrusion" on the top of the lid, but the protrusion is smooth plastic AND tapers from wide to narrow…

  • Regular Price
Cons
  • Lots of things

My review has a great idea!

The best and cheapest way to filter water from water. The company makes a quality filter that will remove the worst of things (lead is my biggest concern). If you can't pay more than $200 for a home filtration system and don't want to fret about the installation, then take my advice! Buy this 6 cup filter and another 10 cup filter or a larger 22(?) original 6 cup jug to first filter sediment and nasty stuff out of your water and then filter again a second, larger system. This is because…
