Metamask is great for Ethereum transactions, and interacting with websites with your wallet (for payments or staking) through smart contracts. What makes me uneasy is the fact that the desktop browser extension wallet is in direct contact with potentially harmful plug-ins, pop-ups and malicious websites. Which could be a risk.
The wallet has it's uses, personally I won't leave large amounts of cryptocurrency on the browser extension.
Overall Metamask is easy to install and setup. Exporting and importing extra accounts through private keys is also possible on the wallet.
