Today i want to tell you something about the MetaMask wallet.
I'm in crypto since 2016 and MetaMask was one of the first wallets i used.
It's still my favorite ether wallet.
Most of the wallets take the technical aspects away from the user, they are using fix transaction fees, you always see all supported tokens, etc.
With MetaMask you have the full control over every aspect.
You can set the GWEI and the gas limit completely on your own.
You can add every ERC20 token to your list of displayed token, just by adding the contract adress to your wallet.
Because MetaMask is a chrome extention, you can connect your wallet to any decentralized exchange, IDEX for example.
There is nothing better, than selling or buying coins directly with the wallet you use. No need to transfer coins to an exchange and pay fees to withdraw them.
Of course you need to pay attention when preparing a transaction. You can set the transaction fee on your own, so there is the chance that your transaction run out of gas because the gas limit you set was too low.
But that's the risk for having the full control.
What else to know?
If you download MetaMask you can create a new wallet. But if you already have an ethereum wallet, you can import it easily. So you can't compare MetaMask with apps like Huobi or Coinbase wallet. They create a new wallet for you and of course you will be the owner of the private key, but you are forced to use the new created wallet.
MetaMask is more like a framework. You can import your existing wallet to get a quick access via browser extension or to connect it with a decentralized exchange.
My opinion?
You don't need MetaMask to create a ether wallet, you can do it with MyEtherWallet or any other Wallet App or website. But downloading the MetaMask browser extension and importing your existing wallet, will give you great advantages. You always have a quick access to your wallet, you can connect your wallet to decentralized services, and much more :)
