Fixed MasterCraft MCX Won't start

Old ignition coil would spark on the plug when not in the cylinder but the engine would crank but not start. Replaced the ignition coil with this one and it worked great. The only outward sign the old one was bad was slight swelling of the epoxy. (see image)

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Cleanliness

Replacement parts worth every penny

I did a full tune up, ACDelco cover, rotor, wire and connector and ignition control module. After replacing my intake gaskets (also OEM) I installed the timing and had some issues with the RPM being erratic while driving, stopping when I got somewhere and putting it in park. Ignition coil replaced, problem solved. Upon closer inspection, I found that my reel was the original 1991 reel because it still had the rivets holding the brackets in place.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction

  • Some cons

Fits my 1993 Corvette as listed in the AC Delco Parts Manual *

item found in a broken box in a padded Revain bag. Fortunately, no visible damage was caused by the impact. Fits perfectly with the coil mount and comes with screws and nuts. Only 4 stars due to packaging issues. *AC Delco parts do not meet Revain requirements and are often flagged as non-compliant, however Revain prices are often the lowest and also meet Prime criteria. Moral of the story: Read the AC Delco Parts Manual* first.

  • handy item

  • nothing

Great except you have to reuse the original spool mount.

BENEFITS: High quality genuine AC Delco parts. Done as it should. Keeps the originality of the old car. CONS: Doesn't come with a bracket so you have to reuse your original bracket which wouldn't be too bad except the original block is riveted to the bracket and the only way to remove the rivets without damaging the bracket is to Gently sand the bracket rivets with a dremel or bench grinder and then use a punch to knock the rivet out.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Disappears

Lasts 2 months on reels

This part lasted 2 months after being fitted to my truck. Not sure why it failed, but it left me stranded on the freeway. The description mentions that the laminates have a coating that prevents corrosion; The part I received was not covered and it doesn't look like it in the picture. Let's hope this was an accident and not an indication of Delco's AC quality. I know there will always be one of many who will fail, and of course that's just my bad luck. My truck actually worked fine for two…

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

The perfect replacement to give your vehicle a little extra life.

I've had problems with Code 42 for at least a year. I restored a 1988 K5 Blazer. The biggest problem was figuring out the source of the code, which is a very misunderstood small-block GM problem. Code 42 is set by either the ignition module or the PCM. After replacing the aftermarket heavy duty coil with this Delco D503A AC coil the problem went away. Once I stopped frying the ignition modules everything settled down. Despite the lengthy diagnosis, the machine works like new. You can't go wrong

Pros
  • Fair performance
Cons
  • Nothing here

Coils can fail without failure

My 1994 Chevy S10 misfired at highway speeds in OD (4 speed automatic transmission) (misfires went away when shifting to 3rd), so i replaced my tired old original spool and i have no more misfires. Obviously this coil will fit many vehicles (which use several different mounting brackets) so be prepared to grind down the original rivet heads to reuse the factory mounting bracket. The coil came with nuts and bolts to replace the rivets and was easy to install. It can be helpful to take a picture…

Pros
  • Highest score for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Superb quality

This genuine ACDelco replacement ignition coil is great. The ACDelco Professional Series line is bulletproof and reliable. I needed a replacement for my 95 LT1 engine. It was a lot cheaper than at the dealer. It took about 30 minutes to install in the car. You need to drill out the rivets on the old coil and reuse the bracket. The reel comes with new nuts and bolts to attach the bracket to the reel, eliminating the need to fiddle with rivets. My LT1 had play at full load through the inlet…

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
