Type of review

All functions work right off without any issues or need for any customizations including the use of the power button for turning the shield on and off once the CEC is set up with the TV. Air remote works smoothly.Documentation is poor to non-existing. Key programming appears to be limited to the power button and the functionality is questionable but you shouldn't really need it.In conclusion, if don't require a keyboard on your remote, this may be the perfect remote for your Nvidia shield.

Pros
  • Works well
Cons
  • Used in a ShieldTV, it was okay while it worked.Simply stopped working after 11 months.

So Nice Bought It Twice

Was looking for a remote to operate my Nvidia Shield, without breaking the bank. This remote does everything you would want, with CEC on, it controls the volume, power and all the shields menus. Just take the dongle out, plug it in, add batteries and you are good to go. I liked it so much, I bought a second one for my FireTv Cube. The cube needs a usb mini to usb converter for the dongle, but also works well.

Pros
  • 6.3 x 2.04 x 0.59 inches
Cons
  • The keys are small and tightly packed, making typing uncomfortable

Plug and play fast response

Works just fine on my MeCool box. Didnt have to program anything just plug and play.main reason I got this remote was for the cursor so I can navigate APK side apps I downloaded. Only negative thing i noticed is it has very sharp edges on the bottom corners.and of course the hard plastic buttons which is still similar to the original remote I had.and cursor randomly unlocks by itself.

Pros
  • The wireless design eliminates the need for cords and cables, giving you more freedom of movement
Cons
  • The remote lags behind input, which can cause frustrating delays

Excellent replacment for Nvidea shield remote

this remote is the best replacement for the shield rubbish remote.it replaces the odd sliding touch area for volume control with actual buttons and all functions are there.its logically layout so you can use without looking and the best thing is uses normal AAA batteries, so no risk of built-in battery dying on you as happened with my original shield remote after 2 years of light use. and the price is spot on, love it, hope it will serve me a good time.

Pros
  • The remote's keys are well-placed and easy to press, reducing accidental presses
Cons
  • The device requires frequent firmware updates to function correctly

Nvidia Shield 2017 - Just works

Bought one to replace a broken official shield remote. It feels a bit cheap, but the things just works. There is little to no input lag which I have seen with a few other remotes. If you just need a working replacement without any fancy bells and whistles then get this remote.

Pros
  • It has a range of up to 10 meters, allowing you to control your devices from a distance
Cons
  • The remote's touchpad is too small, making navigation difficult

Perfect For Nvidia Shield

If you're an Nvidia Shield user, you know how awful its remote is. This low-priced device is what Nvidia should have included with its brilliant set-top box instead of that minimalist abomination the company has foisted upon its users. This unit has everything you need to control the Shield. Its surprise coolness is its mouse control, where you push a button and a cursor appears on the screen. Whoa, I didn't expect to like this feature so much! It's like magic to move the cursor around the…

Pros
  • joinwe
Cons
  • It's easy to accidentally press the wrong button

I've had plenty of remotes and this model is WIN

This is my second remote control of this model, the first one is still working after months of being knocked around in a house with kids (one toddler + myself)I bought this one to retrofit it with a power switch, added to prevent the little dude from pushing buttons and stopping sesame street, or dad trying to watch yet another day of shelter in place news.). After taking it apart (not recommended of course) it's easy to see why this thing is so tough, it's simplicity in one board that does it…

Pros
  • Its lightweight design makes it easy to carry around with you
Cons
  • The remote's volume controls do not sync with the device's volume

Excellent replacement for Nvidia Shield remote

This remote is much better than the one that comes with the original Nvidia Shield (2015). Voice control works flawlessly and the remote feels more responsive, perhaps because it doesn't use bluetooth. The only issue I've run into is that, sometimes, pressing the Enter or Back button enables the air mouse instead of doing what they're supposed to do. I'm not sure if this is just my unit or a more general problem. It doesn't happen too often and when it does I just press the real air mouse…

Pros
  • The remote has a long standby time, eliminating the need to charge it frequently
Cons
  • The remote requires frequent battery replacements, as it gets through batteries too quickly

Simply Great! for my opinion

This remote control's functionality and performance is far superior than my old Nvidia shield remote. However, I found the process of replacing its batteries very frustrating. The company could have made the opening cover easy to open without any guess work. I spent too much time figuring it out. I wish that they would improve the design or simply illustrate the battery replacement steps in the quick guide.

Pros
  • Television & Video
Cons
  • The touchpad is overly sensitive, making pointing and clicking difficult

G20 good for Nvidia Shield

I'll drop a star because it is a more than a little annoying to determine which remote the reviews for this product are talking about. Seems like shady business on the part of the importer. The G20 variant is a great little Nvidia Shield Remote replacement. Doesn't feel premium, but not terribly cheap either. It is a little annoying to take up one of the very limited USB ports for this but still better than paying for a new official remote. Mouse feature comes in handy for some apps where the…

Pros
  • The remote has a wireless transmission rate of up to 2Mbps, allowing for fast and smooth performance
Cons
  • The remote's backlit keyboard is often too bright and overwhelming

Great idea, quality does not last

I bought 3 of these to replace the super-thin 2017 NVIDIA Shield remotes we have around the house. Initially things were awesome. I thought the gyro control for bringing up an on-screen mouse was a very neat feature.Less than a year later, however, ALL THREE are now prone to double-pressing. You hit up/left/down/right/select and it transmits a double-press about 30% of the time. Navigation through on-screen menus is now very annoying where you are constantly overshooting. Software debouncing /…

Pros
  • 1 Lithium Polymer batteries required. (included)
Cons
  • The remote is clunky and not very ergonomic

I wanted to like it

I really wanted an minimal remote with a full keyboard. This makes it simple for non-tech people. I have to push the buttons multiple times (sometimes 3-5 times) to get it register what I want, which is frustrating. I went with a MX3 air mouse instead which work very well, but does not have the layout I want.

Pros
  • It comes with a handy user manual that explains all its features and functions
Cons
  • The remote's touchpad does not support multi-touch gestures

I have bought different versions of this remote but all of them responds the same way, 50% of the buttons don't work. I can work around this by just mapping them with an app but, not many people will know this is an option and given that it is advertised as a "plug and play" device I find this disappointing. As of now personally my only issue is that whenever I press any buttons the remote's led will flash blue for a good minute and idk what it means and fear that it might drain the battery over

Pros
  • Its mute button allows you to easily mute the sound of your device
Cons
  • The device's packaging is difficult to open, requiring scissors or tools

Voice search, Mouse toggle and Price!

I love this remote for many reasons. So much so I ordered another one just in case they stop make them. This remote worked for me right out box, just plugged in USB toggle. Voice search button works, mouse feature is awesome for android and all set top boxes. Even if I want to Mr Negative I can't. The price, easy of setup and it's features make this an extremely great product.

Pros
  • The remote comes with a rechargeable battery that lasts for up to 10 days on a single charge
Cons
  • The device does not contain any volume controls

The original remote was one of my all-time favorites but the 4-way pad was starting to require multiple presses. This G20 remote worked right out of the box and does all the functions of the original. I prefer the thinness and the touch sensitive volume control of the original but they are not available. This will be a good replacement. It has a very low quality feel to it so I might order a spare. For some reason I had to try the microphone three times to do a voice search but once it started…

Pros
  • It has a backlight that makes it easy to use in low-light conditions
Cons
  • The remote's microphone is too sensitive, causing it to pick up unwanted background noise

Nice Android TV Replacement

The OK button (or enter) on the remote that came with my Mecool box quit working after about a year. I decided to give WeChip a try instead of ordering the same thing again. I like the remote, and I think it was well worth the money. A couple things aren't working so well for me, which could just be me, or maybe the Mecool box. I haven't been able to get voice commands to work, I get a response that I couldn't be understood. The other thing is that I have a difficult time telling which button…

Pros
  • The remote is made of high-quality materials, making it durable and long-lasting
Cons
  • The remote's keys are often stuck or unresponsive

Offered a full refund because of issues that i had. Thata great customer service.Never worked quite right the buttons on the front work and the ones on the back sometimes work. Mostly they don't. For the price i would buy something different. 5 months and it died.

Pros
  • With its voice control feature, the Black WeChip R2 Air Remote is incredibly easy to use
Cons
  • The device does not come with a charging cable, requiring an additional purchase

An affordable almost perfect match to the official remote

I bought this for my Shield TV Pro because the one I purchased only came with a controller. At first, that was fine, but eventually I consolidated that device into my home entertainment system and controlled the whole thing with a Logitech Harmony Hub. This made controlling the Shield TV simple, with either a standard remote, or my smartphone. In moving things around after various upgrades, the Shield TV now resides in my office/gaming room. That room does not have nor need a Smart Hub, so I'm…

Pros
  • The remote has a sleek and stylish design that looks great in any setting
Cons
  • It's not compatible with Mac devices

When the USB receiver is plugged in and the air mouse is turned off the IR functions fail. Once the USB receiver is removed the IR functions work as should. Air mouse function works once turned on and USB receiver is in, did not test voice commands

Pros
  • 3.84 ounces
Cons
  • The touchpad sometimes malfunctions or becomes unresponsive

The best remote for Nvidia Shield

I purchased three of these remotes for my Nvidia Shield they work perfectly. All you need to do put in the doggle and restart . I noticed that some people said it wouldn't work with the keyboard but I found a solution for that. Go to the Play Store download Android keyboard then go to settings look for device performances then keyboard then current keyboard and select it then go to manage keyboards and select it there also. Then you can use the remote cursor to type! This remote works with…

Pros
  • WeChip R2
Cons
  • The buttons can be difficult to press and require more force than necessary
