These brackets are top quality and go really well with my new wooden textbook shelves. I'm only giving them 3 stars because the hardware they come with only works with the drywall anchors that came with them. A mount this size really needs to be bolted, and the screws that come with it only have about 1/4 inch threads in the bolt. So I had to go back to the hardware store to buy longer black wood screws.

I chose antique gold, the clips are strong, well made and very attractive. I had a 40" x 11 1/8 x 3/8 glass cut and they fit perfectly. 11.25 would probably work but wanted to be safe. I installed with 1/8 butterfly anchors and they are rock solid. I would use the ones provided Don't use anchors if I'm doing something heavy I painted the anchor heads gold and they match up perfectly An extra step but easy and worth it I highly recommend these brackets!

We installed them for a bookcase set and they are NOT heavy duty at all. The brackets themselves flex very easily, just press on them. Even with a wooden shelf mounted on a bracket, the whole thing sags nearly two inches under the pressure of a finger (we installed four brackets for 10-foot pine shelves, which should be an exaggeration). Not the strongest material you will ever find - make sure not to overload it. They look amazing and I wanted them because I wanted the wall supports to be above the shelf and not below. I keep all my weight on the back of the shelf next to the wall and increase the strength of the anchors a bit (better than the ones that came with the kit. Still on the wall for now haha. I'll start by loving the way they look and I like that the brackets support the shelf from above where most other similar products do support bottom. However, as I've seen in other comments, the gold is mostly just sprayed which means they scratch very easily and end up looking pretty dirty pretty quickly.
