If your garage door is over 7ft you NEED this

Good product but criminal marketing. So you pay $300 for a garage opener. Revain doesn't make it clear that you need this extension when you open the box, put everything on the shelves and read the instructions if your garage door is over 7 feet long. They repack everything and find the kit. It's almost $50. For a rail that is 1ft longer than what you have and a cable that is said to be 2ft longer than what you have. The additional material for this expansion kit costs less than $1. But you…

Must not be required in building materials

Chamberlain says you should buy this kit if your garage door is over 7ft but not over 8ft. I was exactly 8 feet so I put the install back halfway and ordered a kit from Revain. The kit includes a slightly longer section of rail (which is about 9 feet long) and a new, longer strap to accommodate the now longer rail. I installed this $50 "upgrade" and after that I pretty much realized I could complete the install without it. proof? I had to move the motor mounts in my ceiling an additional 10…

Required for taller doors

If you have an 8ft door, this product is required to increase the length of the strap and track. I'm giving a few stars for value for money because it's quite expensive for what you get, but there's no other way to install a typical tall door garage door opener without this one. This works correctly for professional installers on my Chamberlain B970 opening device. . If you are wondering if a particular Chamberlain opener is compatible with your door, visit their website and download the full…

If you have an 8ft high garage door, this is what you need!

I have bought two WD962KEVs (Home Depot) since my 15 year old master passed away last year. I assembled one without first realizing that I have 8ft tall doors and only 7ft of support out of the box. The box also has clear and simple instructions, another bolt with a compressed spring (not a technical term but in case like me you realized too late that you need that extension kit and have already loosened the spring), a longer manual mount. Rope, a new harness, a longer forward rail (the…

Standard MATCHES 7ft Obviously - 8ft garage requires this expansion kit

The title is a bit of a spoiler, but yes I built a garage door opener for a chamberlain and hooked up one end of the opener , and when I tried to connect the motor to the ceiling, I was missing a foot. Damned! Yes, I should have read the description better, but I hurried and assumed my garage was a standard size. Turns out 8ft isn't a standard and I didn't even think to measure before ordering. I think the only thing that needed to be done was to buy an expansion kit. Okay, fast forward, I…

maximum load. Not true, power 1 1/2 hp.

I replaced a 1997 Formula 1 Liftmaster. After 20 years of service, the transmission failed. I have a heavy garage door but it is properly spring loaded to be balanced in the center so I chose this model as the manufacturer advertised it as their heavy duty opener. Regardless, the new elevator struggles with both sides of door movement. The description is very misleading when the manufacturer uses the term "11/2 HP". The motor is a small DC motor mated to a high ratio gearbox to achieve the…
