Easy setup and great documentation

My entire wireless network is Linksys products, so when I wanted a wireless print server I naturally went with Linksys. I went and bought a Linksys WPS11. This is a parallel port wireless print server. Everything worked, but printing is very slow. Sometimes 1-2 minutes between pages in text documents. Then I went and bought a PPS1UW print server. This is the USB version of Linksys. I couldn't even get this thing to work with my printer, which I found odd since my printer worked fine with WPS11…

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Device works but customer service is the WORST

I will never buy a D-Link product again. After purchasing this wireless print server, I followed all the installation instructions but couldn't get it to work. I assumed it was me, so I paid a PC technician to help me. He spent 2 hours on the phone with D-Link tech support troubleshooting and they decided the device was defective. Provide me with a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA). After paying a qualified technician over $100 to work on his technique! All in all I had to speak to three…

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Hard to remember but it was

very good print server

My home network is pure D-Link, router, adapter, print server and even my USB Bluetooth adapter. I already have a DP311U connected to the laser. Bought another DP311U for an inkjet printer 2 months ago. I have a problem how to tell two identical print servers apart. After some research you just need to set the 2nd server to a different address. Original 192.168.0.10. Then set the 2nd (or 1st) other address like 192.168.0.20 and everything is fine. It seems D-Link is now dropping the DP311U…

Pros
  • understandable for the old
Cons
  • communication with the seller

Nice device IF you can get it to work

As others have said, the documentation is poor. It has very clear screenshots of a Windows XP install, but as other reviewers have pointed out, there's a lot missing. At first I couldn't get the computer itself to open the DP-311U's control screen via the Ethernet interface. The LAN connection indicator remained dark. Hurry I tried the *crossover cable*, the LAN LED lit up and I was able to launch the control screen in a browser window. The direct ethernet cable that Qwest provided with the DSL

Pros
  • Like everything so far
Cons
  • Only available in white
