The first FR112 pump I bought was sent back and replaced with a new one as it would be very difficult to start after a few days of inactivity. The replacement worked well the first time I used it, but the second time it was difficult to turn the handle to get it pumping, the third time I used it it was almost impossible to get the handle like turning the innards of a pump. rusted? I finally got it working by putting WD40 through the bleed plug at the top of the pump housing into the mechanism…

Pros
  • The pump can easily be configured for reverse flow
Cons
  • So-so

Got a Fill-Rite FR112 to install the gas canister.

I was trying to figure out a way to get rid of my cheap hand pump (which kept breaking) on my 30 gallon gas tank and find a quality pump that would work . It's impossible to find a quality pump that would wind it up easily. I found this Fill-Rite FR112 pump. I took a chance knowing it has a 2" base and a 1 1/4" intake manifold. It was pretty easy to scale it down to size (details at the local hardware store). It took three parts. 2" female thread with spigot reduced to 1 1/4" and then 1 1/4"…

Pros
  • Easy to use pump with durable die-cast aluminum body
Cons
  • Low maintenance

Good quality fuel transfer pump

I have several 5 gallon gas cans and a 5 gallon raised tank with siphon hose for filling tanks in mowers, snow blowers, pressure washers, cultivators etc. and a large portable generator with a fairly hefty raised gas tank, and several cars and trucks . I'm not on a farm and can't live without traditional open fuel tanks, so I store backup/emergency gas in a set of 5 gallon "canisters" in the garage. I have found it slow and tedious to transfer fuel from various canisters into a raised siphon…

Pros
  • Pump can be locked for safety
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
