Interesting Special tool

One of the pliers is stuck in the hinge. Worked through and washed again and again until the moment when the tension is almost gone. Another good one. I bought them in advance for an unexpected day, I need this solution.

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • There are problems

Not strong enough for F350 4x4 Front Axle Circlips

I had to remove the thick snap rings that hold the front axles on a 2011 F350 4x4. I bought this set and not just the outer pliers because the price of the set was a bit higher than the price of the outer pliers alone. GearWrench's external pliers weren't strong enough for the job. After an hour of testing, I did some research and bought a Knipex 4911A3. At Knipex it took me a minute to remove the ring from both sides.

Pros
  • Alright!
Cons
  • Can't remember

Will not fit F-250/350 front hubs

Requires external pliers for use with F350 front hub. It was a reasonable price and they were long enough to reach the locking ring. They look good, have a smooth and tight action and come with extra bits, wrenches and set screws for each plier. Unfortunately, not a single couple coped with this task. The ends of the outer kit are twisted the wrong way, preventing the retaining ring from being held. The inner set also couldn't handle the clutch. The end result was removing the outer snap ring…

Pros
  • One year trial period

  • Cord shorter than others

Notch Wrench 82110 - Two Circlip Pliers

I've looked everywhere for good circlip pliers. These two articles filled the bill. They're well made and the anodized aluminum tips are amazingly durable. If you're like me, you'll see how hard it is to find such a tool for serious work. Most car dealerships have a small set for $7 or $8, it's a piece of crap and can't be compared to this set. I use these snap ring pliers to take the turbos apart and I need a set that will work with heavy duty 3-4 inch snap rings and they will get the job…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not as thick as other tools

Very disappointing Quality Control

I am such an avid GearWrench fan that as a professional mechanic I have spent several thousand on their brand and 90% of my work tools are GearWrench. But don't take them. I needed extra small tongs from the store so I decided to buy these as I have a large set of these and really like them. It's just not the quality I expected from GearWrench. Of the 5 pliers that were in my pack, 3 pairs either had serrated metal jaws or were non-flush and one pair didn't even have a center spring. Really…

GearWrench has not disappointed me yet!

I am a shop owner looking for a simple and effective snap ring pliers set. They filled the gap. I've always liked the "Double X" setup. I have owned/used/abused several sets of different brands before trying these. The most common issue for me is the overall durability and strength. I tend to abuse tools and make them work for my needs for better or worse. I do a lot of wheel bearing work and these snap rings can be tricky with corrosion, rust etc. So far these pliers have held up well. I don't

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Clarity

Absolute rubbish Chinese made rubbish

Absolute rubbish I received these and literally all 4 set screws don't hold as the hole was made too big. That means the tips don't stay in, they either fall out or are dented. Imagine my annoyance surrounded by transmission parts and having to remove snap rings. I've had better luck with Port Cargo's $6 kit. I'll have to drill them out and hopefully I can drill holes for a larger threaded screw or they'll be completely useless. I would have to spend time and money to repair a brand new…

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Frustratingly flimsy, but can fit small snap rings

These may work for you if you remove small snap rings (less than 1.5 inches). They just aren't strong enough for what I intended to use them for, which is removing the air conditioner compressor coil retaining ring, which is about 2 inches in diameter. The tool's length and double cross design make it a flexible tool that can handle even modest locking rings. You may have better luck with angled pins, but I specifically bought these for their reach and the fact that they come with straight…

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Modern

Great idea, but big design flaw!

outer ring pliers have a built in weak point behind the hold down spring that caused one of the handles to break off. The grips are generally quite strong but the grip is slotted into the grip to accommodate a return spring to the point where the remaining steel is mm thick. This makes the outer pliers very weak at this point on the handle. If you are making light, thin rings that are difficult to achieve. This set would be great, but when you're making something with big, strong outer rings…

Pros
  • Dope 🔥

  • Low Repairability
