Doesn't really work for snap ring pliers

Doesn't squeeze hard enough to be firm enough to release clip. It only has two attachment points, it didn't work for me on Mopar clamps.

  • Great price
Cons

Waste of money on power and hand tools

This tool does not work as advertised. It doesn't release any of the clamps on the Silverado. If you don't spend $100 on a snap-on cable release tool, you're wasting your money.

Pros
  • Heavy duty
Cons
  • High price

good tool for the price

Got this to run the radiator lines on my truck. Worked fantastic on the little ones, a little bumpy on the big ones, but we managed. Look for one with more leverage if you use this every day but for what I needed it was great!

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Nothing here

Amazing tool!: Pliers

This turned out to be one of the best tools in my toolbox, I really like how it works! No more wrestling with pliers trying to remove large clamps, simply hold the clamp and squeeze the handle. They even snap to move the clamp. Just unbelievable!

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Something different

Buy good ones and avoid these

I'm a technician and I worked with a guy who had a nicer version of these truck clamps. They were expensive so I decided to try and save a few bucks and bought them instead. It's not worth it, I'll send them to the landfill and replace them with good ones. The cable adheres to itself, and the clamp end is angled so aggressively that it simply pushes the clamp into the tool. Generates a lot of resistance but didn't open many of the terminals I attached it to. Wouldn't recommend these.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Zero

It works in theory but not in real life

When I received the product I tested its functionality but not on a real clamp. When I was in the middle of a complex repair on my car I had to learn the hard way that this product didn't work, I tried it backwards and forwards it didn't work and I actually had a second pair of hands with it I could use both hands to place it in the right place and ask another person to tighten the pliers, I managed 1 of 3 with this technique, the other 2 I used with a vise, which worked easily. Not only didโ€ฆ

Much easier with this tool!

I love this tool. I had to remove the heater core hoses which are in a very tight spot between the engine and the bulkhead. I love how the ratchet locks the clip in the open position and frees my hand. I've only used them once since I bought them, but I'm sure I'll use them again. This is required for spring clamps whether they are cramped or not. It's like having a third hand. In my opinion, definitely a useful addition to a tool box. With this new tool I will be using spring clamps whereverโ€ฆ

  • Crumpled packaging

It will do the job but you won't like it

I bought these because I had some brackets I needed to remove to replace the radiator. The clamps I removed were almost the maximum size the tool could handle and there wasn't enough compression space to fully dislodge the clamps from their original position. It took nearly an overlap of the tool's handles to get it loose enough to wiggle. Bringing it back was done with WD40 and back again. I'm not sure if there are better options or if they are all the same, but if there were better options Iโ€ฆ

Cons
  • No automatic

It worked fine. Surprised by the quality.

It was time to replace all six coolant hoses on my wife's car, but some of the OEM spring clips ended up in places regular pliers couldn't reach. Decided to try this tool. I wouldn't say it made the hard work any easier. . . but it made an impossible job possible, I was pleased with the quality of the tool at such a great price. It worked great for me, but I can't vouch for how long it will last commercially. The tool didn't break the OEM clamps like pliers can sometimes do, so I was able toโ€ฆ
