Salvaged my dad's aluminum motor mount

I bought this because the previous owner stripped the threads in the aluminum housing for the front motor mount. They filled the hole with red Loctite and left it. A few years later when my dad was buying a car and the engine mount was worn out and needed replacing. That's where we found it. It was more of a hassle removing and drilling out the old screw and hole than fixing it with this kit. My 82 year old father is very happy with the results. Best to spend $20. The same in a heli coil kit…

Saved me a lot of money!

I used a spiral coil to repair the threads on my caliper where the banjo bolt connects to attach the hose to the caliper. (A banjo bolt is a bolt with a hole that allows brake fluid to flow from the brake line hose to the caliper.) I had my doubts that this would work, but it worked! This $20 repair kit saved me over $200! I would 10/10 recommend this product to those of you with mechanical skills. The how-to YouTube videos were very helpful in understanding the process when you're not sure if…

easy and quick thread repair kit

I have a 125cc gy6 engine. See where part of the spark plug boot rubber is pinched. There's an unseen reason why the socket that the spark plug goes in gets so hot that the thing could snap off. Or maybe from the owner before. I used a common lubricant on the drill and tap to catch the shavings. I also always make small movements to catch the chips and keep the center on the hole. I was worried the drill would grab and gouge the hole and make things worse. It worked without any hassles or…

I had to fish 4 pieces out of the hole before one worked.

I had to dig four of these out of a hole before I could get one to work. When screwing in, they missed the thread in the hole and ended up in a gap. About halfway there is a well taut thread, then a thread is skipped, and then there is a well taut thread again. The new screw was only screwed in up to the gap. Also, the stake seemed to be too big for the hole. He pushed while screwing. The new screw was not screwed into the insert before installation because the inner diameter was too large…

Perfect for stripped Brembo rims

I fitted Brembo 17Z brakes from a Porsche Cayenne SUV to my Audi A4. These are fairly large 6-piston calipers, but I use them closely spaced under the stock 17-inch wheels. Somewhere along the way something caught the adapter tube and ripped out the threads and I leaked brake fluid. I removed the caliper, threw it in my backpack and drove through 8 nearby parts shops and machine shops but no one had a solution and no one wanted to mess with it, although they could tell me the thread size. A…

Make sure you have a good drill!

I bought this kit to repair a threaded hole in a Jeep Wrangler frame. I installed a winch plate and had to pull out the threaded bolts to attach the bracket. As it turned out, one side refused to cooperate. I had to go to the store to loosen the screw. This removed the threads, causing the bolt to break off. I bought this kit, pulled out the drill bit and started drilling with my handy Craftsman 18v cordless drill/driver. (Easy job I know) It didn't even make a dent. Well, maybe a dimple, but…
