Somewhat complicated setup

This is the third purchase. I was going to return the last one but found out I made a mistake setting it up so I kept it for my 30 gallon tank. I have one on my 60 gallon tank and was going to use the third on my 40 gallon tank but found the heater side of the connector wasn't working but good news an alarm sounded for my low temp setting so when the heater side the timer was running, he would have alerted me to a heater fault, which in this case was not a heater fault. So things work when…

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't an expert on these guys.

I read that it was a great choice for budget controllers. Unfortunately I don't know how to install it properly. In an attempt to go to Fahrenheit, which I had to go online to find the video for to even get this far, I managed to get it to just constantly blink at the top of the screen. The instructions aren't that clear, at least not to me. I contacted the company via email. No Answer. So I don't know whether to send it back or put it in a box and forget about it. I have a small tank and…

Peace of mind and healthy fish!

I have a very cheap heater that is always on and I was concerned that it would overheat my small (1.5 gallon) hospital tank. That works great! You simply plug the heater into an outlet on the Inkbird and you're good to go. It turns the heating on and off for you. So if you have an unreliable heater that you are concerned about overheating your tank, GET THIS PRODUCT. It gives you so much peace of mind. It keeps the temperature within half a degree (if you use the Celsius setting) and sounds an…

Worth the investment

Great for keeping my hermit crabs in optimal conditions. I placed an aquarium fan on the cooling side and adjusted the settings so that it turns on at 89°. When it gets that hot, the alarm will sound for a second and turn on the fan to cool the tank down to the programmed 85° before shutting off. Reduces wear and tear on the Ultratherm at the back of the tank which can actually be inefficient, overheat and shut down when running at full power 24 hours a day. My only wish is to include a sleeve…

Exactly what I needed!

I didn't just want something to measure the temperature of my tank. I already have it. What I needed was a sensor that would turn on my tank's fan. Setup was a bit confusing - if you want Fahrenheit you have to press the settings button all the way down where you can select Celsius or Fahrenheit and then you can tweak the settings to your liking. The only thing I don't like is how sensitive the wiring is for the part of the thermometer that sits next to the controller - if you touch it wrong…

So far, so good. Cheap

So far so good. Cheap and in my opinion even better/more accurate than my JBJ Truetemp controller. I use for aquariums. I shrink the temperature sensor and put a rubber cap on the end to keep the sensor from direct exposure to water. Not sure if it made a difference for freshwater, but it was easy enough and it wouldn't hurt. I also like the alarm modes. Just have to see how long this thing lasts, but so far 5/5. EDIT: I've since bought the 2nd for a different tank. I shrink this one too, but…

Pros

  • disappears

This turned out to be a really great thermostat for an incubator I built for hatching chicken eggs. I connected the heating side to a heating lamp and the cooling side to a fan in case it gets hot. This unit also has alarms that can be set to sound when the area you are heating or cooling gets hot or cold. There are a few other settings that aren't relevant to my use, but I could see them being used for a variety of purposes. There is also a setting to toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit. My…

Sensor failed but was replaced under warranty

Original review (March 2019): We have had two aquarium heaters fail in four years. The first just stopped working, which is a preferred disclaimer. However, the second failed, by which I mean it started overheating the tank. And that's after spending extra money on what we think is a good heater. Luckily we caught it before there were any casualties, but we no longer trust a single device to properly heat our tank. And that brings me to an important point regarding the use of this temperature…
