Description of Easily Locate AC Circuit Breakers & Test GFCI Outlets with Klein Tools ET310

This circuit breaker finder can quickly and accurately locate the correct circuit breaker in a panel corresponding to the circuit to which an electrical outlet or fixture is connected. Tester consists of two parts: a Transmitter, connected to the electrical outlet or fixture and a Receiver, used to scan the panel to locate the correct breaker. Receiver delivers clear visual and audible indications when the correct breaker has been located. Operates on 90-120V AC circuits. Transmitter incorporates a GFCI outlet tester to inspect the wiring condition at the electrical outlet and test GFCI devices.

Works perfectly! suitable for electrics

I was able to keep track of every outlet and ceiling light in my house for myself. There are 30 patterns in total. Using a transmitter that is also a circuit tester, I found open ground that bit me about a week ago while tracing an armored cable line. I now have a nice spreadsheet listing all the circuitry and all the crazy ways other owners have wired it up for extra padding. Simply slide the receiver's nose over the switches TWICE slowly. Ignore all signals at the first start. If you launch…

Handy tool for circuit testers

I've long been a fan of small tools, although I don't own many. your hand tools. Screwdrivers, wire cutters and the like are always top notch. I see professionals use this brand the most. This circuit breaker finder is a handy tool although the sensitivity direction could be better. The receiver tends to start reporting the correct circuit about two points before and after the search. You have to slow down very much to make sure you are on the circuit that the transmitter is plugged into…

Waste of time for testers

The GFCI outlet tester functionality works fine (you can buy it for less than $10), but the breaker tracing feature is completely useless in my house. As soon as I plug the sending device into the target outlet, when I go back to my panel and cycle through the switches according to the instructions, I get positive notifications for about 4 of them, and none of them are the correct circuit. The circuit I connected it to gave no reading at all. I ended up having to ask my wife to call me on my…

Won't save you

I bought this unit to put an end to the countless trips between the fuse box and an electrical device (in this case an external headlight) that I wanted to turn off. I followed the instructions exactly; Turn on the Klein block, then reset the block so it can "learn" my backup field. Then carefully move slowly and hold the tip of the device at right angles to the breakers and move down. After 6 tries and several false positives that I had found the right switch, I had my wife flip the switches…

Pretty accurate, easy to use

It's pretty easy to use. You plug the transmitter into an outlet and then use a stick to find the appropriate circuit. When you have tandem circuit breakers, it's a bit more difficult to determine which switch is the correct one. This helps to make contact with the probe tip and make several slow passes. You can also tell what other jacks are on the same circuit as the jack you plugged the transmitter into, but this is less reliable but useful. works as intended and accuracy is high enough to…

I needed this to work.

With a house that has been renovated many times and electricians who just marked switches with a sharpie (corrections by scraping paint and sharpie from box) I really wanted and needed this for work. I followed the instructions and every video I could watch on the device. I restarted the unit as instructed but it kept coming back to my kitchen as the only breaker it could detect no matter what direction I started from or how many passes it just couldn't "detect" anything other than that breaker

Works very well with little experience

I work alone most of the time and it can be a chore to turn off the right circuit by myself. So I bought this tester in December 2019 and it has been working great ever since. I use it weekly and once you "feel" it the tester works fine. You'd have to be an idiot not to get this job - that's a salute to the 1 star reviewers. Pros: - Easy to use. Plug the tester into your desired outlet or lamp (lamp adapter included), it will light up to indicate circuit power and also has a GFCI tester. Turn…
