Ideal for removing door hinge pins

Among many other uses I purchased this Mayhew 1/8 hole punch for removing door hinge pins. It has a flat head face to knock the pin out safely and easily, while my other punch was sharp and slipped frequently.

Pros
  • SAE standard size
Cons
  • Minor issues

Great Name on Tools

As another reviewer noted, the neck is only 1 inch long. This is not a problem for me. I bought a cheap punch set a few years ago and the small one (which replaced this one) didn't last long. My only disappointment is that the Mayhew name isn't actually stamped on the instrument. It is on the packaging around the stamp.

Pros
  • Do not use on stuck pins/keys; loosen with a hard punch first
Cons
  • Useless features

Very soft metal for punching

I realize I've punched metal with a 1/16" punch, but I didn't expect it to bend on the first hit. can use my thumb to bend it back. This allowed me to complete the task, but since it flexed a couple of times it would be too weak for anything else. The price was good but the 1/16 shank was so long it was doomed.

Pros
  • Pin Punch 1/6"
Cons
  • Vanish
