what they don't tell you

I received my drain yesterday and was going to install it today but after reading the instructions additional parts are required prior to installation. What is not included in the description is that you need to install a "Y strainer or combination valve with ball valve and filter" on the inlet side to prevent dirt from damaging the drainage system. After an hour of searching the web, Y-shaped filters range from $12 to $60 and aren't always available. If I had known that beforehand, I could…
