Adjust under load! suitable for power converters

Do not test with an open circuit. Make sure you install/test them under load. Put a 4.7kฮฉ resistor (eg) across the output when tuning, otherwise you will get odd output readings. Or, if you know what voltage you want and what current your circuit needs to draw, use R=V/I to find out what size test resistor to use. Example: you need 10V and 0.5A. R = 10V / 0.5A = 20 ohms. So you should put a 20 ohm resistor between + and - at the output to mimic your circuit when adjusting the voltage.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Okay, but are you expecting an average of 5 good ones instead of 6?

As a DC buck converter they work very well. The potentiometer on them is extremely sensitive and just as fragile. The first package I received was a sealed static package with no module. The seller offered a replacement set so I agreed and it arrived fairly quickly which impressed me. The second set had a slightly different problem. One of the SMD resistors was installed on one side on the corner of the potentiometer, not connected to the corresponding point like the others. A bit low on the QA

Not all work but still very well

I needed 3 DC/DC, one didn't work (no output voltage), three work and the other two are still in the sealed bag. The design is good just in case I improved the soldering of the chip, but that's probably not necessary. VIN must be at least 3V above VOUT for proper operation. It works very well for me and gives a pure DC output, but I haven't tested it with full output current. The potentiometer is counterintuitive (clockwise -> lower output voltage) but it works. The design is such that ifโ€ฆ

My conclusion: Susceptible to overvoltage

Not a big fan of these steppers. They are finicky and I find prone to breakouts. I hooked this up to create a 5v source for the Eachine ProDVR for FPV (Fat Shark Transformers) racing goggles and after 20 minutes of continuous use the DVR died. I thought the battery was dead or undercharged, but upon further investigation it was found that the 6.68 volt surge destroyed the Eachine DVR. Having said that they are finicky it was very difficult to adjust the potentiometer to 5v, often theโ€ฆ

Yes it works. basically

I read in a review of this unit or another very similar unit that it smoked immediately when used with a 24vdc input. I can confirm that this is indeed the case, release magical smoke instantly. However, it still works. The input filter/smoothing capacitor blows up and takes the track onto the power rail, but the voltage regulation function works. I removed the damaged capacitor, reconnected it to the 24V supply and adjusted the 12V fan load. and it works as expected when I replace the stockโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • There are new competitors

Excellent adjustable buck controls. Don't overheat, maintain a supply voltage with rises and falls that stays within 1-2 hundredths of a volt. gives a fairly clean output voltage (still need an LC filter if you want very clean waveforms) gives 0.6 to 23 volts from my tests. can draw from it a constant 3.5 amps at 16.8v without heating, 2.5 amps at 20 volts heats up, but normal. 3 amps at 20 volts will burn out the coil in about 20 minutes. At 12V I was able to draw a solid 4.2A from it for 2โ€ฆ

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Very expensive
