Purchased for Ford 289. Uses centering tool to push back crank for removal but does not round anvil. In any case, the diameter of the centering tool was too small to be pressed against the crank head without damaging the crank threads. I have various steering wheel and balancer pullers but sometimes have trouble installing the balancer. I've never liked hammer action, but unless you have a long bolt with the right thread, I've sometimes had to hammer on the balancer a short distance from the crankshaft until the bolt hits the threads. Of course, I always protected the balancer with 2x4s, but even so, I became a terrible hammer mechanic. Chevy engines were the ones I had to do most of the time, but it was only a short distance
