Type of review

I bought this stain in Cognac for a nightstand that I'm building to match an existing dresser with an Acacia type of wood finish. While this stain is a little more warm/red than I expected, it still looks very rich and accomplished my goal of making cheap plywood and lumber look much more high end. The first photo shows the stain on a maple plank, and the second shows the stain on plywood with a roll of birch veneer nearby for color comparison. It was very easy applying this with a foam brush…

Pros
  • Ideal for use on furniture, moldings, wood paneling, and cabinets
Cons
  • May require additional drying time between coats

Superb Product for my opinion

I used this stain on the arms of a wood futon couch and chair that my dog stands up on all the time and had scratched the hell out of. Not only was it easy to use, but my dog is unable to scratch it! He's still putting his front claws on the chair and couch arms at least ten times a day, and this stain is standing up to it! This is a VERY durable finish. Highly recommended!

Pros
  • Great product. Easy to use, very mild smell as advertised. Dries quickly
Cons
  • Strong fumes that can be harmful if inhaled

One of the worst stains I’ve tried.

I stain a lot of wood and have used many different brands, Saman was one I had not tried yet and decided to give it a try. First thing I immediately noticed after opening the bottle was the absolute horrid smell. I can’t even explain what it smells like but it’s awful. I don’t think I’ve ever used such a strong smelling stain. I put together some various pieces of scrap wood and poured some of the stain into a cup. This stuff is extremely thick and ridiculously foamy which makes it impossible…

Pros
  • Delivers a smooth and even finish with minimal wood grain raising
Cons
  • Not recommended for use on outdoor furniture

Nice color. Cleans easy.

This was the first time using stain on wood. I usually paint or go au natural. I was afraid it would be too dark so I cut this 50/50 in a jar with water. You can see how light the first coat was. It’s ok because I like having more control on how it spreads and how dark it gets.It comes off the wood and your hands easy with water. It also wipes off and blends well which is great for a first timer like me.This was a practice build for a barncaster guitar. I wanted to try it out before I use 100…

Pros
  • Comes in a convenient 32-ounce container, perfect for larger projects
Cons
  • Not suitable for use on unfinished wood

❤ this stain is superb! Love the turquoise!

I am in love with this turquoise stain! It was so easy to use. I used a small roller brush and it went on with a breeze. I used 1 coat so I could see the wood grain. I also added a little mica powder to the stain to give a little shimmer. For the sealer I used polyurethane satin in a spray so I could avoid brush marks. It is nice and bright! Pops with the darker wood. Clean up was easy, I used gloves so I only had to clean the roller. I would 100% recommend this stain!

Pros
  • Provides a non-toxic and eco-friendly alternative to traditional wood stains
Cons
  • May not retain color after exposure to light

Color is different than shown

This stain is very easy to use, nice consistency, dries fast, and has no smell. But the color is warmer than what’s shown in the swatch list. I ordered amaretto and used it on unfinished pine wood (check photo). It’s very different than what was expected and not not what I was going for so I placed another order in cappuccino to tone down some of the warmth. As a tip you can oil the wood and wipe it down to remove some previous pigment from the stain. I’m going to be doing this before adding…

Pros
  • The color is rich and deep. But it's kind of tricky trying to get uniform shading.
Cons
  • Can be difficult to achieve desired color

Would recommend looking up a vid before using if never used

We did not do that and found that it clumped complete fault of our own but even still it turned out good for what we were wanting. But if you’ve never stained anything before it’d probably be good to watch a vid instead of just going off of the side instructions.

Pros
  • 20 YEARS OF NORTH-AMERICAN EXCELLENCE: SamaN is the preferred choice of professional woodworkers and DIYers in North America. We promote greener products and help the integration of people with intellectual disabilities and pervasive development disorder.
Cons
  • Not suitable for high-traffic areas

No respirator required, still use gloves though

I wanted to use a stain that wouldn’t require me to wear mask and eye wear. Although, it is more of a tint stain it gave my piece a very rich color. What I really liked was after making several trials from the original mix and then various delusions, I found just the right degree of color I wanted from the Sesame. What was great was that once I put the Beeswax/mineral oil polish on it became so brilliant and rich looking. I like that fact that I don’t need to open a window to stain a piece and…

Pros
  • Stains
Cons
  • May require additional protective coating

Azure was just what I needed

I finally figured out a solution to my broken tile issue on my front step. I Chiseled off what I could from the concrete and put down furring strips and put deck boards over the top. I pre-painted the boards with this stain in Azure color and it turned out super cute. I was concerned about whether the stain color would be opaque enough to cover the treated wood, but 2 coats did the trick.

Pros
  • Works very well. Easy to apply. Does not smell and dries fast.
Cons
  • Difficult to clean up spills and splatters

This stain was great!

Loved it.easy to use, little to no odor, looks great on my new window and water clean up. What more could you ask? Put in a new window the first part of Dec and looked in town for the water base stain I usually go to. But they no longer carried it so did some research and found these stains on revain. Wanted water base and low odor because it was going to be very difficult to stain in the house with the windows open with the colder winter temps. I bought two colors in case I had to mix. Started

Pros
  • Finishes, Sealers & Stains
Cons
  • Can cause wood to become more susceptible to scratching

True to online color, easy to use, quick drying, cost-effective

Wow! I love it. I am new to using stain indoors. Outdoor stain smells awful and gives me pretty much an instant headache. This stuff is completely odorless. Like maybe theres a very light paint smell if you really put your face in it but honestly, there's no residual fumes and I stained my window frame in my basement. It's very watery, so be careful getting it out on your sponge! I used a regular house cleaning sponge and found it easiest to pour a little out on a news paper or little container…

Pros
  • I love the color, clean up is super easy. The bottle is way too big for smaller projects.
Cons
  • May cause wood grain to become less visible

Great wood stain good for me

We bought standard floor kitchen cabinets to make a large buffet. I chose this brand for the color selection, the ability to dilute and adjust the color, ease of use and the fact that is water-based. It washes of hands very well. Absorbs into wood very easily and dries very quickly. I adjusted my color to make the blue more smokey by adding another grey water based of a different brand and added other black tints. I also added water to make it more thin. We love the results.

Pros
  • I like it so much!!
Cons
  • Requires multiple coats for desired richness

Cleans up extremely well

Super easy to use. Spread onto my wood chest smoothly with microfiber staining sponges. No streaks. Putting the stain into the sponge and rubbing it in worked well. I forgot to wear gloves and got my hands clean just by washing vigorously with soap and water and a nail brush. Hands are spotless.I think I will do another coat bc the old wood chest I’m refinishing is spotty but I so far am super pleased with the color. It’s a dark purplish brown and looks rich already.

Pros
  • Can be used on bare wood or previously stained wood
Cons
  • Can be difficult to repair if damaged

Great Product at a Great Price

After setting my garbage can contents on fire after improperly disposing oil stain filled rags, I decided to go with a safer option. Read about this product, and decided to give it a try. Comes in a variety of awesome colors, is extremely easy to apply, and is sold at an incredibly reasonable price. The fact that you don't have to use a wood conditioner (important on certain types of wood) is a big plus.

Pros
  • Easy to clean up with just soap and water
Cons
  • Can be difficult to match to existing wood finishes

It just works - my new review

The big box stores sell stainable wood and only carry Minwax like stain products that are expensive, labor intensive with poor results - this stuff just works, easy to apply, no VOCs and all at a tenth the cost of Minwax like stains.

Pros
  • Restores and rejuvenates old and worn wooden surfaces
Cons
  • Not recommended for use on heavily varnished or lacquered surfaces

Great product for my opinion

I used this on my wood floors. They look so much nicer. I love that this product has no smell and is not toxic. You don’t need to use it in a vented area like other products. I bought another product from Home Depot when I read the warnings I knew I had to return it. I got this on revain instead and am very happy with my purchase.

Pros
  • Offers an easy-to-use water-based formula
Cons
  • Requires a high level of skill to apply evenly

Great color. Easy to control.

This was a great value for our money. A little goes a long way. The color does lighten up a bit after a day or two when it fully dries. Very easy to apply extra layers to make the color deeper and cover the grain of the wood. Can also just use one coat and have the grain show through if you want. Also easy to get off your hands.

Pros
  • Easy to use, color as described. Recommend!
Cons
  • May require sanding between coats

I used it to stain raw wood additions to an existing piece of furniture and it was very easy to apply and match the colors. Love that it is dispensed in a bottle with a screw cap - lengthens shelf life and allows easy use of small amounts.

Pros
  • Perfect for DIY projects or professional use
Cons
  • Can require additional mixing prior to use

Great product! best in my review

The easiness of this product is great. You can tint or fix any wooden furniture you’ve got. Buy the quart. You won’t regret.

Pros
  • HIGH-QUALITY PRODUCT: Durable stain that protects and elevates wood’s beauty for all your renovation, decoration or DIY projects.
Cons
  • Can be difficult to match to existing furniture

GREAT Stain. DO NOT USE WITH PENETRATING EPOXY

I love this stain and it was very easy to apply.I bought it to stain a piece of baltic birch ply before sealing with penetrating epoxy.Unfortunately, it inhibited the uptake of the epoxy and I had to sand it off. DO NOT use with penetrating epoxy.

Pros
  • Paint, Wall Treatments & Supplies
Cons
  • May require frequent reapplication
