High quality brand network - outperforms OEM

Famous brand network. I needed a quality network of well-known brands. This chain is well made and looks the same or even better than the factory Shimano chain that was on my trek. I've shortened it in a few links to fit the original length, so be aware you may need to do this. My local store offered to do this for free. The unidirectional master link still holds up today, but this is a new design that breaks with the traditional style. The time will show. The plastic box arrived broken but the

My favorite chain on chainrings

This is the chain I use on my personal bikes. Anything from 6-8 speeds. They last quite a while before stretching, they work much better than the old flat link bike chains. And if you want your old bike to work well again, you need a new chain. As a bike mechanic I can tell you that 70% of the time you say it just stopped working properly. it's a chain, they stretch, even the best. Remember, measure the links of your old chains. 24 links are EXACTLY 12 inches, if noticeably longer (pin width)…

Worked great on an old Shimano 15 speed Northwoods mountain bike.

Put this on a vintage Northwoods Shimano 15 speed folding mountain bike. Works perfectly. The blocking connection worked well. UPDATE: My shifting got sloppy and the transmission got noisy. I bought a chain gauge and you know what! My chain is worn out. This is not uncommon, every chain wears out over time. So I bought a new one. WOW! No noise, great shifting! I should be fine for another year or two. I drive a lot and usually tow about 80 pounds of a kid with a trailer.

New chain for little money

The previous chain lasted a few years. I've checked for wear and tear from time to time and finally decided on an exchange. I don't use any of those fancy sensors. First, I check the play on the large sprocket. If I can lift the chain more than 1/8", I measure the distance between 12 links. It should be close to 12". If it's over 12 1/8" I replace the chain. I love these Quick connect feature of SRAM chains, while I still have to use a chain breaker to remove extra links once the chain is sized

Only use the chain cutting tool to shorten this chain

If you find yourself in the unusual situation that you need to purchase two of these tools to lengthen the chain slightly from the original 114 links, then avoid it Use the chain splitting tool to add links. Just use the chain cutting tool to shorten this chain and powerlink to reconnect the links. In my case, I found that a pin that was reinserted and detached could detach from one of the other outer panels. Luckily I caught this in time and removed the broken links and added them back from my

Great chain good price

I bought both this and the 830. I thought the 850 had beveled edges and a smoother chain, but I'll tell you what: I couldn't tell the difference, it just looks at them. I had to constantly look at the part number on the box to tell them apart when installing them on two of my mountain bikes. I haven't put many miles on these chains, but they are both very good smooth chains. The included main connector makes installation very easy, and with a standard circuit breaker (I borrowed one from a…

Great replacement for a worn chain

I needed to replace my old chain on my mountain bike but needed a slightly longer one because I installed a 7 speed cassette instead of the 6 speed cassette that was available. I also had some trouble skipping the old chain because it was worn out. This SRAM chain comes with clear installation instructions and the power link is the brilliant part. Installation went smoothly and after about 500km on the road and about 100km on the trainer, the chain was still running smoothly and quietly. He's…
