Also works on older Macs SyQuest EZ-Drive!

As advertised this item will turn any old SCSI device into a new USB device. I used this (plus an optional adapter and MacDrive) to connect and use an old SyQuest Ez-Drive to my new Windows 7 laptop. However, there are a few things to consider: Connecting a SCSI device to a USB Port.2 . Make sure the disc is in the drive BEFORE plugging it into the USB port, otherwise the disc will not be recognized. You can then eject and load another disc, but first you must insert the disc into your drive.3.

Don't waste your time and money on this article.

I purchased this product after reading the manufacturer's claims that it will work with all USB 2 ports and almost all SCSI 50 devices. Following the instructions (there weren't many) and installing their drivers, none of my XP-3 boxes recognized the device. I bought it specifically to pair a SCSI VXA tape backup device with my laptop. After more than 2 hours of trying to discover the device on my system, I called the "Help Desk" number provided in the field. No help from the manufacturer of…

Caveat Emptor - SCSI Cable

I don't really want to use my old SCSI device on my PC, I just wanted to transfer some files from my old computer. But since my old computer can't burn CDs or handle USB or Ethernet connections and my new computer can't read floppy disks and I had an external SCSI hard drive (backup) for my old computer, this was possible. but an expensive solution. Now for the details they never include in sales information: According to the manual, it can only work with one device at a time. If you chain…

Works great for me Best in Computers & Accessories

I read some other reviews that seemed negative but I had no problems. I have an old Nikon slide scanner (LS-2000) which is a SCSI device. My old computer has an ADAPTEC SCSI card installed. But I wanted to use the scanner with my new computer and laptop. This cable did it. I followed the installation instructions and pre-installed the driver from the CD that came with it. Plugged in the scanner and the old scanner and software worked great from the start. This allowed me to get rid of my old…

Worked Immediately - Computer Accessories and Peripherals

I use this converter with Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and external SCSI-1 removable media (Fujitsu DynaMO 640 Magneto-Optical Drive). I also use a passive adapter to change the connector. When I first tried it, it worked without installing any additional drivers. It's even better than the SCSI PCI card I had before because the Ratoc converter plugs into an external drive. This means I can turn on the external drive after I turn on the computer and then the SCSI drive will appear, effectively…

Unstable and expensive

I tested the device on two different WinXP based systems and the results are the same. Out of the box, the device didn't recognize most of the connected SCSI devices, and as soon as I changed the configuration of the various addresses to not use the default address, the device drivers that came with the device caused a kernel panic in XP at the moment when something or related to it. You cannot get the configuration without connecting the device. If you do this, you will get a kernel panic and…
