Old Technology That Just Works

For those who remember the Permatex non-hardening sealant used in auto manufacture years ago, it's almost the same, if not the same. Sometimes that silicon/RTV/whatever doesn't work very well. I don't like it for many different uses, so I use it. Old technology that works.

Pros
  • Cool Product
Cons
  • Trade-in Available

This is SEALANT, not glue

Thick, very sticky thing. Ideal for sealing reusable gaskets in the engine area. I've opened my Harley's camera at least half a dozen times. The same pad. No leaks. Stays plastic and sticky forever. Someone has complained that it is advertised as non-hardening and doesn't harden. mmm Yes. That's the whole point. It's like asphalt, but a sticker. You'll need gasoline or maybe WD40 to get it off your hands and anything it's on.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • There are problems

Old technology that works much better than RTV combined with gasket

Gasoline proof unlike RTV. It remains flexible even after years, so that the parts can be easily removed and cleaned if necessary. It is designed to be used with paper/cork gaskets to hold them in place and fill in minor imperfections in the gasket surfaces that a gasket cannot. I use old pads of paper all the time, cover them up a bit on each side, and I never have any leaks. This has been my path for over 15 years! In fact, it is a substance similar to TAR.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

You need Viagra. for fillers, adhesives and sealants

The packaging says "non-hardening". Other sealers are also talking about this, so it's not uncommon. Except for this product, it does NOT actually cure. I tried using this as a glue to glue two pieces together. After a day I pulled the parts apart without the sealant noticeably curing. Then I squeezed out a little to keep track of a few days. By the second day she had only scratched and was still sticky under the skin. By the fifth day it was completely "cured" and was still dirty and easily…

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Everything is fine
