The best "shoe " I've ever had

I can't fault my Vibram running shoes. They're extremely durable, flexible, comfortable, protective, etc. They've protected my feet from road glass, gravel and other debris for 12 years, and they've made walking on the balls of my feet fun again (like when I was a kid). They have also saved my lower back from the effects of regular running shoes that encourage walking in heels. Each pair lasts around 18 months, which actually makes them a lot cheaper than "regular" sneakers. (I run about 750…

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Nothing for people with wide feet.

Absolutely, no apologies, NOT suitable for runners with wide feet. Unlike the KSO, Spyridon, and other Vibrams, the inside of these shoes stops abruptly at the inside edge of the foot, allowing your foot to hit the inside edge of the rubber with every kick. Spiridons and KSO solve this problem with a nice long piece of rubber on the inside of the foot that wide feet can push and straighten up with ease. but wide enough). Correctly ordering this shoe by length left me with an overhang problem…

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Hard to say

A great idea that didn't justify itself in many key points.

I've worn Vibram for a long time (both on the highway and off-road). They fit comfortably out of the box. There wasn't a lot of room in my toes, but once I started walking it all fell into place. I've used them on the road and on the trail. A very comfortable ride and on the trail they offered great cushioning for the occasional toe smack on rocks or roots. So far, so good. The vents in the upper proved incredibly annoying, licking every random sand I ran through (yes, I know, they're…

What happened to Vibram's drop in quality between 2015 and 2017?!

Purchased on April 16th, 2017 (via Revain) and used immediately for the May 7th marathon. On May 26, the protrusion of the 2nd toe of the left foot (the one next to the big toe of the left foot) began to peel off. The materials, workmanship, or both don't seem to be up to the usual standards I've come to expect from Vibram since I started using the Five Finger in 2009. In contrast, my purchase (via Revain) on July 6, 2015 (!) of the Bikila EVO road running shoes (similar in many ways), which…

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons

The best running shoes I've ever had!

LOVE LOVE LOVE these shoes! I've tried about 7 or 8 Vibram Five Finger models over the past few months and didn't care how they fit and returned them straight away, but as soon as I tried them on for the first time I knew I loved them fell in love :1. A break-in period is NOT required for anything, which is a big advantage for me. I want my shoes to work for me from the start - I don't want to work for them. So, like I said, when I first tried them on I realized that I could walk and that they…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

The Vibrams EU website has a CORRECT SIZE CHART!

If you use the sizing chart here or on the US Vibrams website, your shoes run larger than they should be. (That's why everyone in the comments says to reduce the size.) I've included a screenshot of the correct chart in this review, but I don't know if Revain will publish it. Use the size chart on the Vibrams Europe website to find the correct size. Now let's move on to the shoes themselves! I started running in minimalist shoes in 2010 while I was still in the military. Vibrams were banned…

Glad I tried them!: Athletic

I only started running a few years ago and progress has been somewhat limited. Whether it was because of age, diet, weight, or declining athletic ability, I wasn't able to progress at a pace that made me happy. I don't feel entitled to call myself a runner yet. I'm mostly focusing on the 5K with occasional attempts at 10K. I'm only mentioning this so you can appreciate my review as I'm new to running. I think I paid $125 for the color I chose and it seems high but consistent with the prices of…
