Great tool for repairing damaged threads.

These are excellent products for repairing damaged threads. I would recommend using Lock-Tite when installing. It strikes me as odd that there isn't a suitable drill bit in the kit to drill the required hole? At least it tells you which drill press to use. Hence I deducted a star.

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Negative Result Present

A simple little tool that gets the job done.

I bought this set to assemble acrylic resin molds. Something that has to be taken apart again and again. I've never used coiled coils before, but this tool and instructions made assembly simple and easy. I ended up finding coils of different lengths, but the ones that come with the kit work fine.

Wrong size crane included

Crane was undersized when first shipped. Actually it was 10-24 tap. After I returned the product and ordered a replacement, the same thing happened again. The faucet is the wrong size. It then took more than three weeks to get a refund from the company that sold it. Very poor quality and quality control needs editing

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Crumpled

Ideal set for flashing.

It was necessary to spool the torn 10-24 thread on my air compressor. This little kit isn't usually sold in stores (I've searched carefully!). I found the inserts but not the special faucet needed for them. This kit has everything you need at a lower price than buying the inserts and tap separately. The compressor has been repaired and has been running great for two weeks now.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • There are some nuances

Assembly tool snapped off in workpiece

I had threads on a machine part that I wanted to repair with this product. After drilling a hole with a drill (which was not included), I cut a hole and inserted the EZ-Coil thread. When turning the assembly tool handle, the head broke off, ruining the part I was trying to fix. Taps and thread inserts appear to be fine, but the assembly tool quality is poor.

Pros
  • Highly rated by testers for support and durability
Cons
  • Safety

Cracked Hole in Bike Handlebar Fixed

With this kit it took me about 20 minutes to repair a broken latch in the handlebar where the pedal is screwed in. At least a quarter turn for every half turn, and when inserting the spool into a freshly cut line, insert the correct end of the spool with the tool and push in slightly. Based on some of the reviews I've seen, I think some people put the spools/inserts in backwards.

Pros
  • Heavy Duty Construction
Cons
  • Modern

You do the job; planning to break a few

I used this product to rethread a c.1995 plastic electrical control box after a screw broke on removal and ended up having to be drilled out. I managed, but these #6-32s are inevitably so brittle that I broke the mounting tab on two of them during installation; the third worked. I would have preferred if the set used a regular part drill rather than a numbered machine drill. Also, it's a solid solution, probably stronger than a new one, and I didn't have to disassemble the wall.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Communicate with seller

The included faucet is cheap/junk. Do not buy.

Would be a good product if the faucet didn't break right away! I've been designing and building things my whole life so I'm not new to using a crane. I just repaired a cast aluminum steering wheel adapter. I custom tapped the box, lubricated the hole and tap with a magic tap, oil for cutting the tap. And once I had about 3 threads I had 0 effort on the faucet and heard it break. I was able to pull it out and at the cut line where it broke you can clearly see either the impurities in the tool…

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Some problems

Are the TPI taps wrong?

I use 32 tpi. I checked the gauge on a 10-32 inch bolt. The STI crane does not snap into place like in the photo. The faucet says 10-32. I called the company and they sent me a new kit with the same problem. I've googled STI and TPI taps etc but can't figure out if I'm doing something wrong? I went ahead and tried pasting. I inserted the spool into the aluminum threaded hole by gently pushing and pulling on the locking ring as shown in the instructions. Tried a 10-32 screw and it stuck about…

Pros
  • High-quality workmanship
Cons
  • Not everything fits
