I bought this product hoping it would keep some items in the fridge (salad) fresher longer after opening them at a lower price. Well, not like that. I've placed several different foods (from lettuce to diced chicken) into these bags about half full to ensure the seal doesn't break by overfilling the bag. 5 stars so far. I opened this box and tried the pump with liter packs today. It was very impressive how these bags "shrink" around the in this case jerky stuff, as does my energy store of groceries. I read a review from another person who says that over time the bags allow air to flow back into the bag through a small flap. I will test and report. As I said, it is impressive how much the small hand pump sucks, as well as how much air it sucks out of the bags. I bought this to pack survival gear
