Useful flashlight Specilized

I have been using Bernzomatic flashlights for over 40 years, they are the only brand I will use, they are a great tool that last a long time. I just upgraded to this unit with a built in igniter, I think I'll get many more years with one. It is not suitable for soldering wires or pipes. It was designed to shrink vinyl and its wide flame can be useful when defrosting pipes.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Unfashionable

Ideal for searing after sous vide cooking

Ideal for searing meat and even vegetables. I use MAPP gas and a 500 degree cast iron skillet to get the best browning in the shortest amount of time and to avoid overcooking below the meat's surface. MAPP gas has a significantly higher flame temperature than propane, allowing you to quickly move the flame across the surface and easily focus on frying the edges of the fat.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • No instructions

Great for Sous Vide

This burner is ideal for frying sous vide dishes. If you look at this lantern and the Sansaire lantern you will see that they are identical, so this is a good alternative to buying a set. I compared it to the new TS8000 my friend recently bought. Although this flashlight doesn't have a regulator, this flashlight has a wider, longer flame that will quickly burn anything you're pointing at. All in all, this is an amazing sous vide flashlight.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • blunt wrap

Used a regular torch head to heat a gray PVC cable to bend the wire. Worked well but need to be careful not to make it darker or worse. Patience - and lots of it. This head was sent from God. Works much better - wider heat distribution - faster heat up - and much easier to control burn/browning rate. It's a little pricey, but if you're going with standard heat and using a soldering torch head, you really need to switch to this heat head.

Pros
  • Multiple competitors
Cons
  • Compatibility

I bought this to upgrade my sous vide setup since.

I bought this to enhance my sous vide setup as my small butane torch just wasn't producing the heat I wanted. If the butane wasn't hot enough, it will get too hot. My previous attempts at roasting have had mixed results and usually end with a small loss of flavor as the edges, corners and any wood shavings that are slightly protruding burn crispy. Simply salting before frying or carefully removing any herbs (or tying up herbs to remove later) is an absolute must! Knowing how to keep the flame…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Everything is great

. some of the research that led me to this point. Propane tanks are less than $4 at my local store, and this item is really easy to use and well made. I have used this product on 2 1/2 inch BI steaks, 2 inch striped steaks and pork tenderloin with excellent results. 10-12x range play with no flare taste. Pull the trigger and buy with confidence because this is what you are looking for. The images show ribeye bones that are 2 1/2 inches thick.

Pros
  • Cast aluminum body construction for durability.
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options.

A good alternative to the Sansaire frying set

Believe it or not I bought this to brown the crust of sous vide steaks, not for shrink tubing. The burner itself is the same as in the Sansaire frying set, only with the Bernzomatic logo and without the raised broiler. Since I didn't care about the former and didn't need the latter, I decided to buy it for a lot less than the Sansaire set. a few minutes. Plus, it has the "cool factor" of ending your meal with a "flamethrower." For those unfamiliar with sous vide, this is a method of cooking…

Pros
  • Auto start/stop ignition starts easily and puts out the flame
Cons
  • Some bugs
