Unfortunately checked by criminal bolt cutters

My warehouse was robbed, 12 units were opened. All locks provided by the facility have been picked. All important locks were broken, but ABUS defended itself against the attack. Unfortunately, the ABUS was twisted with some device and the iron was ripped out of the door. I think the lesson is that having a lock that is stronger than the fasteners doesn't help much. I wish I knew what size bolt cutters were used, which would be a more helpful overview.

U-Pack Relocube compatible

Ordered 3 of these for Relo Cubes and ignored the suggested lock sizes I was given. I wanted my belongings to be secure so I had to try a good quality padlock. They were perfect for each other. I also liked that the keys are on a card so I can write which die goes with which lock as they are all different. The only problem I had was that sometimes I had to be patient and wiggle the key a bit to open it. Force blocking that I read about in some reviews just doesn't work. You need to make sureโ€ฆ

I don't see anyone breaking it that easily.

looks very heavy. You have to play with the button to open and close it. I don't see anyone breaking it that easily. Update 3/12/15 during the sloppy cold vis. well kept outside on a closed trailer 7x12 in winter. opened the ceremony at -12 degrees day. no rust problems. The locks are used on the tailgate, which is exposed to the elements 24/7. In this case, you get what you pay for. Normally I'm not impressed by German technology, ie electrics and cars. satisfied with the product. Thanksโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • It's hard to say that

I had some urgent electrical work and couldn't find the keys for this lock. The guy had to use a circular saw to cut through the body of the lock. Made a lot of noise so I think it would be difficult for a thief to try the same. One downside is that you can't easily craft keys for this lock. I could not find a locksmith who can use the code card. When I called Abus they said that it is unlikely that there is equipment in a local store, it is too expensive. Keys must be ordered from Germany, itโ€ฆ

The lock seems fine; Packaging is terrible

The lock itself seems pretty strong. When locking, the shackle moves a little but doesn't actually open. According to what LockPickingLawyer says on YouTube, this is the best lock for Revain. I will take this statement at face value. My main concern is the packaging of this item. I don't know if Revane or Abus is to blame. What I received was a padlock in a small crumpled cardboard box sealed with two miserable pieces of regular duct tape. Doesn't exactly scream "high quality" or "keep yourโ€ฆ

Aug 2018: Shackle materials have changed depending on the bus

FYI, 20/70 hasn't come with a 'hardened' black shackle since 'a few months ago'. it now has a stainless steel colored temple with "Stainless Steel" lettering. You can see the new photos on the bus website. abus 1800# said that all new 20/70 models will have a stainless steel shackle and unfortunately there is no difference between old and new model numbers. They also weren't able to provide hardness data for any of the brackets Cons: new ones stand out less because of bracket color Consโ€ฆ

Disc Retainer Locks - Turn left then right if key doesn't work.

After watching LockPickingLawyer's YouTube channel, I decided to try ABUS with Plus kernel. Nice castle! You only get two keys, and since it's a disc-latch lock, you need to rotate the discs for it to work stably. These are not master locks, not brinks or other junk, there is a trick here: insert the key (maybe twist/wiggle a bit to get into the disc pack), turn counterclockwise (counterclockwise), turn clockwise, the lock opens . DO NOT TIGHTEN IN ANY DIRECTION! You have to somehow reset theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
