They have remade all the usefulness of this brace.

I bought this bracket a year ago to install an SSD drive in a computer I was upgrading and everything went so smoothly I didn't hesitate to buy it again when it came up the time was to upgrade another computer. This is a totally unfortunate redesign of the original mount. First, the wrong dimensions. It is 2mm wider than the drive bay. Second, the hardware mounting hole is not made properly to use the computer mounting screws. Third, the holes aren't drilled in the right place to mount an SSD…

OK but I would look at others

The main issue I had with this mount was the external screw holes. They were either not connected or poorly connected. I used this to install an SSD in a new HP Omen desktop. With the screws that came with the Omen to mount the drive, I basically had to cut the holes myself and it took me a lot of effort to screw them in. Good driver, I would never make her tap on her own. After I installed the drive everything was fine. The main reason I bought it through Corsair was because it seemed like a…

Only SATA I cables and wrong threads.

I bought this set thinking to save a few bucks but it was a waste of money. First, the included SATA cables are advertised as SATA III or 6Gb/s, but they are actually only SATA 1 or 1.5Gb/s. I verified this by first comparing my SSD with these cables and then with another set I got from another source. With another cable, the speed jumped three times. :(Second, the screw holes in the case that attach it to the case have a different thread than the standard HDD/case screws. You can see this in…

Side screw holes are not standard 3.5 " screws.

This beautiful piece of kit suffers from one important point: the outer screw holes are not standard 6x32 3.5" screw holes! These are 2.5" M3 screws for HD/Optical/Floppy drives and therefore will not work with Dell Toolless Drive Brackets as the holes are too small and the pins will not fit the bracket. Time to get the drill. Damn. Folks, it's not hard to get it right. MAKE IT PHYSICALLY LIKE 3.5" HD. Same screw arrangement, same screw size! EDIT: I'm sorry I didn't cover the good stuff…

The new version has been greatly improved.

I bought a newer version with separate side rails. I just needed to install an SSD and it was very easy. It's actually very well assembled and sits very low on the main compartment so I didn't even have to use the side rails, but it would be nice to have them if I decide to add another SSD. All screw holes line up perfectly with the SSD and 3.5" drive bay. This version is an improvement over the original version with mounting holes on the main compartment perfectly aligned with the SSD and a…

It works, but I had to apply a few fixes

This is a computer I built in 2006. This is a great computer, but it needed some updates. I first upgraded the operating system from WinXP to Win7 Home Premium. The system drive consisted of 2 Samsung 500GB 7200RPM hard drives in RAID-1, but I had so much stuff loaded that it took a few minutes to boot up. So - - I cloned the system drive to a 500GB SSD using Macrium Reflect (free for home use - HIGHLY recommended) and replaced the RAID 1 pair with the SSD. Of course, I needed a bracket to fit…

I'm happy with that. fits computers and accessories

Good buy in my opinion. Good price and I like the cables that come with it. A splitter was a must for me and the straight cable or 90 degree cable option was good. Having a screwdriver was a nice touch, but having a magnetic-tipped screwdriver would have been much better. I could just go around the house to see if we have a little magnetic-tipped screwdriver, but I didn't think it would take that long. I underestimated the difficulty of keeping that annoyingly tiny screw straight while trying…
