Poor Support: HVAC

The product crashed and I spent several days contacting the company for technical support. Help could not be requested.

Pros
  • Hands Free
Cons
  • Not the best

Great product and great customer support

I bought this to be able to control my Lance trailer air conditioner with a Yamaha alternator. I live at 7400 feet in Colorado and often camp at even higher elevations, and Yamaha dropped the A/C starting load. I installed SoftStartRV with no problems (I once called Brian Gibson at SoftStartRV support - he called back right away and made great recommendations). Now my generator can easily handle the air conditioning! No more hot nights in my trailer wishing I could control the air! Great…

Van Parts & Accessories Support Issues

Product works but be prepared to install without seller tech support. Almost three weeks have passed since two calls for help. and no answer. Previously I had actually been contacted and promised to receive an email. I'm still waiting. I'm sure most installations are fairly easy as long as it's a regular series of air conditioners following the diagrams. Problems arise when they are installed on a less common air conditioner without a proper circuit. The lack of support is unfortunate as the…

Works like a champ!

I am converting a van into an RV. My intention is to be all electric. My goal was to be able to operate the air conditioner offline. I probably won't be doing this very often, but if I can then I shouldn't have any problems with my electrical system's performance. Attempting to run my AC on anything other than shore power was not feasible. The generator stops and/or trips the circuit breaker. The same goes for my inverter - it immediately turned off the output switch at startup. I had to read…

Very impressed - great product!

Thank you for helping me stay calm. I bought 2 SoftStartRVs, one for me and one for a friend. Self assembly was easy. Compressor start was very quiet, no more knocking. My wife and children don't wake up in the middle of the night. Before we installed SoftStartRV on my friend's trailer, we tried to run his 13,500 BTU air conditioner with his single Honda EU2000i alternator. With the Honda in ECO mode and the air conditioning fan running at low speed, we tried starting the compressor. The Honda…

Start your rooftop air conditioner with a generator

STEP 1: READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! STEP 2: REPEAT STEP 1 STEP 3: Just do it and you won't be disappointed. I have a Champion 3400 Dual Fuel Dual Fuel Inverter Generator and 13,500 BTU AC unit in my RV. The generator did not start the AC unit. He was always out of order. 2 others installed, didn't work. Installed in this, the generator will idle in ECO mode while remaining silent. The best purchase for a mobile home. I can now plug my roof into a 20 amp outlet if needed (with a short cord, of…

No support, can't find username!

I was trying to use this so I can control my AC motorhome when plugged into a 20A home outlet Back to website, my username wasn't in the database. Very frustrating. However, I did get an extended warranty from the company. Before connecting the soft starter I measured the current consumption. It was 13 amps. After I connected the device I measured the current and it was 18 amps. Checking all the connections as instructed showed no problems and I tried contacting the service department again but

It really works! for motorhome parts and accessories

Amazing device. I tried a hard start capacitor for my RV AC and it either didn't help or made things worse. I tried not to spend $300 on such a device, thinking I could find a cheaper solution. but there isn't, and this device is amazing. I've had all sorts of problems starting my RV AC, my 3000w inverter cutting out on overload and over 6000w bursts trying to start. I've caught fire occasionally after resetting the inverter, but still at high inrush currents. The Yamaha 2400IS will struggle…

It really works! 13.5k AC miles on a Honda EU2000

Despite the many rave reviews I hesitated for quite a while about buying one. That's a normal amount for an upgrade. But with this new "different brand" softstart competitor and double warranty, lower price etc. I decided to give it a try. Installation was very easy on my Dometic Brisk Air II, which is only 13.5 years old. NetworkRV has charts that you can print out and follow which makes things really easy. Installation took about 30 minutes. We hooked it up to a 120 AC house to make sure it…
