great function for the price!

Recently my vintage 1992 Sony STR-D595 receiver stopped blinking. So I was willing to replace it with something as modern as possible (without breaking the bank). The STR-DE695 definitely offers 6.1ch and HD pass component video capabilities. I only have two real complaints about this receiver. The AM radio part lacks real sensibility. Only the strongest stations will get through, and that's assuming you have a decent antenna. (Unfortunately, this is a common problem with many lower-end…

Come on. This receiver is not that bad!

This is a really good receiver. Having said that, I have to admit that I've never heard AM/FM on it (I haven't heard AM/FM from outside my home either, but then again. I've never had a two-way pager either). , and do not refer to the TV as "color TV"). However, I have connected various digital devices to my Sony STR-DE695 via cinch cable and have not been disappointed in the slightest. In my opinion this receiver has aged quite gracefully and continues to produce good sound quality. I've hooked

Terrible junk of plastic Sony

Bought this new for $500 in 2004. The set included a 50 CD player and a pair of vintage Bose speakers (2.2, 1989). The CD player worked and sounded good, the Bose speakers were ok but for the price what can you expect? Now comes this garbage. That sounds TERRIBLE. Weak AM/FM, thin, tinny, weak and distorted sound. Surround sound didn't work properly either. Not to mention that channels A and B had audio imbalance.
