It fit so well I didn't have to cut it, although removing the door wasn't that easy. I read the instructions which the previous homeowner seems to have overlooked and installed correctly, not the reverse method the old one did.The benefit is the tight seal at the bottom, the downside is the door is no longer as easy to push or pull on as used to be closed so we often find them partially closed and need to do better work on that before the cold weather hits .. Another downside to a tight seat is that the flaps on the bottom wear out quicker since I don't have the sill on the door as I do with several other front doors in the house, if I use it on our front door for a few years we use a lot to go to the garage e and to get to the rubbish bins. I would say that would be a boost. For around $8 I can't expect it to last much longer and still work as the one I removed was also an M_D product but didn't have anything other than the external network itself so was pretty much useless.
