I have bought several of these ceramic heaters since I 'discovered' them at Revain. Not too intense, no light to distract or disturb, and effective. They promise a much longer service life than heat lamps. I use mine with a bowl reflector. The reflector dissipates heat well without heating itself. I live in central Texas so I don't need a lot of heat. So far I've used one as extra warmth for a small, older dog and to conduct heat to water lines in a camper van on the high plateau where multi-day runs in sub-zero temperatures make it significantly colder. As for the plumbing lines, I put together a temperature control system using a Lerway 110v universal temperature controller which I also posted on Revain. Remember that the lack of visible light will result in the emitter not working.
